Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 73: Together as One

Good day my fellow steemians and members of this prestigious community. I want to thank @steem4nigeria for organizing this contest. How are you doing in your respective countries? Happy new year to you all. I'm so glad for the constant support I've gotten in this community. I hope you are having a great time? I'm so grateful to God for the gift of life.

Introduction

Before now our forefathers were only engaged in communication around the globe via letter writing. This process was herculean, complicated and tedious. However the advent of radio and television sped things up. Later, the internet came, connecting people on the World Wide Web, and everything changed again.
The internet is the best thing that has ever happened to human existence.

How Does Steemit Connect People From Different Places?

Steemit is a social media platform just like others. The same ability other social media platform have on bringing people together
Before I continue. Let me tell you what social media is. From my findings social media now refers to web-based applications that promote the creation and exchange of user-generated content.
Since Steemit is also a social platform. Therefore, steemit offer opportunities for people to expand their social networks and forge new connections with other individuals around the world that they might not have otherwise encountered. By broadening their professional circles, people can access diverse perspectives, experiences, and resources, which can enrich their lives and enhance their social capital.
Steemit connect people by creating communities for people who share the same interest. These communities have what they engage in, probably daily or weekly. Then people of same hobby is social status get to meet each other.
For example I met @bossj23 and @nsosong2022 in steemit before getting the opportunity to meet them on real life. We saw each others post and developed interest each other.

What Makes You Feel Part Of The Steemit Community?

Yes, I can say that I am a part of the Steemit community via my interaction and engagement with other steemit users. I post things valuable. Things that could educate in any way and I also comment in people's posts in their comment section. I constantly receive support and encouragement from those who are bigger in the platform and my few other close friends in Steemit and also creating and uploading a very good post which gives me room for acceptance too in any of the community I apparently post on.
With that. being said I believe my contribution here is valid.

Why Is Supporting Each Other Important On Steemit?

Supporting each other in Steemit can't be underrated. Supporting each other can help boost our self-esteem and overall mental wellbeing. Nobody will do better in a negative environment. So we shouldn't let anyone or anything barrages us from commenting, upvoting and engaging in other people's post constantly.
Supporting each other can even develop friendship and bonds.
It will definitely help us grow in the platform. So supporting each isn't an option. It will encourage us to do more.

How Can We Help New Users Feel Welcome?

There's nothing different from steemit and other social media platform except for the fact that steemit is a bit complicated for new users. We can encourage new users by always guiding them on what to post, when to post and how to post.
We should also help them by commenting on their post, probably correct their mistakes online so that other new users can be guided.
We should upvote their post when we stumble on it. This will go a long way in making them feel that sense of belonging.
We should always inform them on new developments in any community.
We can also be holding physical meetings. Some new users always want to meet others and perhaps, get words of encouragement from them.
We should tell them to take their Steemit engagement serious so that they will be easily recognized by old users.
They are so many things we could do to encourage them. The above is just a few.

Conclusion

Steemit is more than just a social media platform. We rise by lifting others. Helping each other grow on steemit will be a thing of joy to both old and new users. I will keep saying that becoming a steemian is one of the best thing that has ever happened to me. The encouragement I get here on a regular makes me feel positive about life.
