Is love the Answer?

My heart broken friend

I personally haven't been heartbroken but I have a friend who once had her heart broken. Apparently her and this guy started seeing each other during the COVID 19 pandemic and it was a blissful romance, though it was long distance.

They were both living in different states and so their only form of communication was social media. Their relationship continued till after the pandemic and looked like a healthy blooming relationship at the time.

Everything went downhill after their 1 year anniversary, the guy started becoming distant, not having time for her, making excuses as to why he can't call, text, or even check in on her. She tried her best to understand him and even made excuses for him but it only got worse.

The guy started to lie about his whereabouts, where he lived and how he had this acclaimed wealth that he couldn't touch because his money was frozen somewhere and that the girl should give him money to sort out some issues.

The last straw that broke the camel's back was when we used her details to take a loan, ghosted her for months leaving her stranded with loan creditors before finally breaking up with her saying she nagged him a lot and wasn't understanding.

It was a very sad experience for my friend and she cried a lot because she believed she loved that guy. It took her a while to move on but she was able to set up a thriving business all on her own and heal from the scars and the time wasted on the past relationship.

Is it possible to find true Love these days?

It is quite difficult to not place money at the center of everything especially in today's generation. Infact, money is said to be used to buy love, that you cannot properly love someone without money so much so that it is now the order of the day.

To an extent, some of it is true. Actions they say, speaks louder than words and most times your actions require a form of financial capability. Even a popular Nigerian artist once sang "Love is sweet o, but when money enter love is sweeter"

But true love without money? Yes, it does exist but it is the rarest form of love to find in today's world. I don't believe there's any love that won't require you to take care of or provide for the person. So while it exists, it doesn't exist completely as such. I'll explain.

There's no better definition of love than the one found in the holy book of Corinthians that says "love is kind, love is patient, etc" That definition is genuine love which cannot be bought with money.

But if you love someone, you will want to be kind to them, forgive them wholeheartedly, you won't be in a competition with them or be jealous of them, you'll be there for them and want to take care of them so much that their happiness becomes your priority.

And it will hurt you when you want to make this person happy but you are limited because you do not have the money to do so. There's only so much love can do. They say love is not enough which I agree because if the person you love and swear to do anything for is suffering from a health issue or needs financial assistance and you know with money you can reduce this person's pain but you don't have money to do so, love is not enough at that point. Infact, it is useless because love is action. Not a word.

So I think you can genuinely love someone but it is not enough if you can't express it through action which most times requires money.

If given the opportunity to choose between money and love, I would choose both. I believe I can have both but I'll choose money first. Here are a few of my reasons;

  • Money is a security: Love is reassuring but it won't provide shelter, food and clothing for you. Love will not make sure you are set up for life including the children you will bring into this world. Love won't make sure you have something to fall back on when things go awry.

  • Money is a protection and power. Money will secure a lot of things for you. Money will take you places love can only dream about. Money will get you help, resources and assets in which to use and create a better life for yourself. Money will not leave you heartbroken and shattered and money can get you status and open doors of opportunities for you.

3.Money can provide comfort and luxury. Financial independence is what a lot of people dream of and with money, it is a possibility. You can buy anything you want and go to wherever you want, love a luxurious life and extend it to your loved ones providing them with the satisfaction and contentment and happiness that comes from being able to live a good and comfortable life.

Money and Love

No, money doesn't answer all things, but it can solve many problems and provide comfort and security and it has its limitations. It cannot answer to love because love is a fundamental human need and money alone cannot fully satisfy it.

So while money can provide a comfortable lifestyle and luxury, it cannot replace the intimacy, warmth and emotional connection that comes with having or creating loving relationships.

Money cannot answer to love in the sense that money cannot buy affection, neither can it replace human touch and emotional support including a fulfilling and healthy relationship.

Money also does not answer to love because it cannot make up for or compensate for lack of intimacy between loved ones, emotional needs, the need to be loved and appreciated and the pain of heartbreak and loneliness.
