How do you view the future?

The future? In the modern world, it is such an intriguing idea. It appears unrealistic to some individuals. Some see it as just two to ten years later. Some view the future as an impossible dream, while others see it as the realization of a long-awaited dream, all because of the belief that we do not have enough time and that everything we do should lead us to our imagined future.

In my opinion, no. I will also explain why. When it comes to our own Nigeria, the current state of the economy has demonstrated that, despite their best efforts, things will never return to how they were ten years ago. Prices are soaring uncontrollably every day, and inflation is increasing at an exponential rate.

The worst thing is that the leaders we have now are either walking in the same shoes as their predecessors or worse, having promised during their administration that things would get better. They have done nothing to support the faltering economy. Apart from the financial and economic difficulties, the degree of insecurity is not particularly noteworthy.

Every day, schoolchildren are abducted, and people are so afraid of being attacked on the road that they avoid traveling altogether. I could go on forever, but nothing would improve over the current situation.

Yes, I do think that the plans we make now will determine whether or not we have a better future as individuals. Here are some explanations for my statement:

• Planning gives direction: Having a plan will help us stay focused on our objectives and aspirations by providing us with a road map to follow. Without a plan, it is simple to become sidetracked or lose focus on our goals, which can interfere with our vision of the future.

• Setting priorities is made easier with planning: By prioritising our duties and tasks, we can make the most of our time and resources rather than putting off a task for too long. It only causes us to waste time on the tasks that are truly important.

• Planning ahead will enable us to recognize potential obstacles and challenges. By doing this, we can devise solutions for these obstacles and challenges, ensuring that when they do arise, we are equipped to deal with them and remain steady. This can assist us in avoiding obstacles and maintaining our course toward your future aspirations and goals.

• Having a plan gives us a sense of control: Having a plan helps us feel more in charge of our lives and futures. With the knowledge that we control the course of our lives, we will feel in control.

At this point in my life, I am confident that my future will take place as planned but preparation? I can only say I'm taking the necessary steps and doing what is required each day no matter how small to make that future look possible enough.

Things may happen to alter the plans one makes for his future and even if that happens, I'm ready for whatever takes shape. I believe one can alter or reshape the present conditions in their life to a future they'll want to have.

On this note, I'd like to say that I believe that someday, probably not in the near future but someday, maybe after our generation and the next, or maybe after ours, this world will one day become a plan we all dreamed of. A place where the size of your pockets won't be the order of the day for survival.

A place where insecurity will be another non-existent word even in the dictionary, a place where crimes, inflation, hunger and sickness will be folklore to tell the newest generation. A place where we will all live in peace and harmony and where religions will not seek to dominate the other.

This is a world worth looking forward to and with faith and a bucket full of hope, I earnestly believe such a world is possible.
