STORY STORY- FROM GRASS TO GRACE PART 1
Their parents could not afford to send three of them to at a time, so she told the two girls to stay back from school, while their eldest brother went to school. The two girls had no option than to stay back, and help their mother in hawking fruits on the street,Just to afford at least two square meal , while the remaining money went for their brother's school fees. Their father was a peasant farmer who was well known in the community.on the days their father had to plant in the farm ,he was accompanied by his two daughters and the also helped him plant on the farm land . Their mother was a petty trader and also a fruit seller ,who sold within her power and might to have the needed money. when their father had nothing to plant on the farm nor weeds to weed, the two daughters would help their mother in selling, when their brother returns from school he would also join them in the market to raise the funds .despite this, the where very happy .
Two years passed, now their son was in SS3 , about to write his WAEC that year, but there was no money to pay for the WAEC fees which was ten thousand naira only , and he has always been dreaming of becoming a lawyer, on seeing the poor condition of the family he started thinking of how he would fail his dream.
On one faithful day, one of their uncle , Uncle Itoro who has not visited them for years decided to go spend a day with them .On seeing their uncle they were amazed, Mr and Mrs Akpan offered him a seat to sit and a glass of water and a plate of groundnut which that was what they could afford. Their uncle on seeing the condition of the family , he was left with pity for them .Mr and Mrs Akpan started the discussion about the suffering they have been through, as the discussion continued, Mrs Akpan mentioned that there is no money for their son to write his WAEC but she will try hard to get the money , the discussion lasted for about 5 hours , and Mr and Mrs Akpan told Mr Itoro Ime's dream of becoming a lawyer. Soon, he needed to go before it gets dark , on leaving, he handed out an envelope to Mr and Mrs Akpan which contained the sum of money of about 300,000 , they appreciated him so well, but Mr Itoro said it was just the beginning and promised to. Visit again in this next two months, with the help of his u uncle, that is how he succeeded in writing his WAEC and when the result was out he came out with a flying colours.
