KILLINGS IN NIGERIA: A RESULT OF STATE OF ANARCHY

in Steem4Nigeria2 years ago

Anarchy, according to the advance English dictionary is the state of lawlessness and disorder usually resulting from a failed government.

One of the major responsibilities and roles of a government of any country is the provision of security for lives and property of its citizens, provision of Welfare of its Citizens, provision and promotion of Economy, provision of Social Amenities. However, where the government has failed to provide viable Economy and Social Amenities for those it is responsible to, it will definitely result to people striving to survive which consequently poses a threat to the lives and property of the citizens.

Meanwhile, what is happening in Nigeria is far more terrible than a survival of the fittest situation. It is more of a ethno/religious cleansing or eradication by one particular tribe and religion against the other. Why it looks so is the fact that the majority of the killing is being carried out by non other tribe than the minority Fulanis disguised as herdsmen killing people, raping and maiming other tribes. Attack are being carried out on churches almost all the time. Priests are being kidnapped and would not be released without millions of naira paid as ransom.

The most surprising of it all is that the highest man in the country doesn't seems to see them as threats, just because they are his kinsmen. Meanwhile those who strive to fight back to defend themselves by any means are immediately repelled by the military. This can however push people to resolve to taking the law into their own hands.

In a country where killings of innocent citizens have become normal. Kidnapping is now a lucrative business than any other businesses. All these have been because of the body language of the head of state, and the incompetence of his military personnel. I remembered vividly, in 2018 when 73 people were killed by the Fulani herdsmen in Guma and Logo Local Government in Benue, it took the Commander in Chief of Armed forces 2 weeks before commenting on the incidence. Even after his comment, no concrete action was taken, till today as far as I know. The then cheif of army staff, same tribe as the zenith man and killer machines, only enjoyed the threatening of innocents who raised their voices against injustice. His best actions has always been dances of various kinds against the weaklings.

Nigeria is a failed state. Whether we believe it or chose not to. It's just a pity that there's no one to help her. She's crying 😭 daily on top of her voices but her voice was not heard. If the situation could continue like this, what will be the fate of the unborn and the upcoming children tomorrow?
