Languages differ in tribes, countries, locality and continents. These languages are too numerous to mention and aren't heard by all. We only hear the language of the place we were brought up with unless we want to learn. There's this Official language that almost everyone are familiar with because this language started the world. This official language is the English language but when it comes to languages asides English, we may not understand or even know how to speak. What's the language of my country?

What is the name of your country? How many languages can be found in your country?

The country that has this community of which Engagement Challenge is ongoing, the Giant Of Africa, the dominating lion, super eagles, the country of advantages and disadvantages. I'll give it to Nigeria. The green signifies us because everything in life is green. The name of my country is Nigeria and this country has 36 states and 774 LGA in these states to show how great the country is.

Each of these states and their local government area have languages they cherish and call their own. Grouped into ethnic groups, these languages are spoken based on which state and ethnic groups people belong. So in total, there are over 500 languages in my country. Some of the ethnic groups that are popular in my state are;

  • Hausa
  • Igbo
  • Yoruba

So people speaking Igbo are called Igbos, those speaking Hausa and Yoruba are called Hausas and Yorubas.

Among the listed languages in your country, how many are you familiar with?

Among the Languages spoken in my country, I'm familiar with just seven in general and these are;

  • Igbo: I was taught this language in my primary school so I know the basic greetings and how to converse well with the Igbos

  • Yoruba: I'm not really good in speaking but I understand the language and is familiar with it.

  • IBIBIO: This is my major language, the language of my heart and we speak this language almost every second, minutes, hours and days. I was brought up in a land that speaks this language. So I'm used to it.

  • Efik, Oron, Eket, Anaang are the remaining languages I'm also familiar with as I've been with people who speak these languages and so I understand but can't speak fluently.

How has this language improved/helped your life and business?

The official language as well as the language of my heart has helped me a lot no doubt in the following ways. Knowing most of these languages has helped me when conversing with friends. There's how a group of people will gather together using their own language. If you don't know how to speak or doesn't understand it, you'll be left out in the conversation. You may even feel bored and stupid.

Another instance is when I was doing my screening. I stood on a long queue under the sun for hours just to get it done before leaving home. So there was an outburst as students were angry. They said the man is sluggish and not fast in screening and that students are out here suffering under the sun. The man came out in annoyance and used Language with us. The language he used was Oron. So when he blotted out, I responded back loudly in Oron language but in a mild tone trying to make the man reconsider.

The man paused for a while and repeated what he said using the language to know who responded. I didn't hesitate to respond back. That's how I got screened that day. I was the 78th person on the line but I screened before others. This is because of how I responded to the man with the language of his heart.

Are you willing to teach your children these languages? Yes/No. State your reason.

Teaching them languages and self-expression would be my major so they can be helped and useful anywhere they go. I'll not just teach them my language but languages of other states of possible, countries even if it's the basics of them all. There are opportunities that would require you to be fluent in a particular language before being given. They'll definitely miss the lifetime opportunity because of their inability to be eligible. That's how I'll choose to run my family when I have one.

So language is very important. Little wonder it distinguishes us in various aspects. We can also reach the heart of those hearing of listening as well. Our everyday conversation is language no matter where we are or come from. I invite @goodybest, @zekanem, @queenella1
