My Neighborhood Watch #34 - Reporting Events Around us

Things happen everyday whether good or bad, positive or negative. There's no day we won't hear bad news and on rare occasions we hear good news like the Semifinal match between Nigeria and South Africa. The happiness was just there but yet, while others are rejoicing, some are weeping and morning. Let me tell you what happened in my neighbourhood this week.

The Accident

On my way to school, I stumbled on a crowd who gathered close to a shop. At first I felt it was a mere gathering as there was no shouting, no screaming, no sign of visible or boastfull that would come in three days. At least like every other accident seen, I do see objects that cause it's first. When I walked past that shop, I wasn't quite observant that there was a car across the road and beside the shop.

Oh my goodness!! How manage? Questions came into my mind; Questions like; Were there people on that lane when he drove past? How did he manage to thumble his vehicle off the road, skipping a very big gutter and right straight in someone's shop. The vehicle didn't come in front but from beside as you can see in the picture.

Since I was off for school, I had no time to go into the crowd and check what really happened. Another question was, is the driver dead? What if someone was standing in front of the shop when the crash came, unaware? God just know how to save his people from things they didn't plan for. The shop was crashed or destroyed to a certain point while the mother remained slightly unhurt. This happened some days back, hopefully on a Monday this week.

Death

This same week probably the next day, I overheard someone taking about a man's death, an old man's death. If was reported that this old man died in the nightas he fell into a big drainage system, newly created and all the irons in the drainage pierced this man. His death was immediate. Before people noticed his was inside the drainage, it was the next day as no one believe they could fall there.

How come? The new drainage system in a strong close to my campus was built newly to control flooding. This drawing popped out and wasn't fully covered as they would make use of it the next day. Unknown to one man in the night, he didn't observe that he was heading the direction of a drainage. He stepped on the cemented edge of the drainage and wanted making another step not until his second leg didn't land on another cemented edge but inside the big hole.

He went straight to where the irons were stuck and ended his life unexpectedly. It was when the road constructors came to cover the drainage that they saw someone was inside. This was to their disbelief though. All these are road hazards. The last time this happened was last year November when a young marriage last fell inside another drainage that was uncovered at night. To her luck, the drainage had no irons but she got her leg dislocated.

Those are the bad news hovering that street this week. Who knows what happened to another person yesterday in that street. It's always good to thank God for the gift of life when you find yourself safe and sound at home. I invite @katie28, @vudeme123 and @msharif
