Do it Yourself Contest : DRAW A GOOSE

Hello good day every one, here is my entry for the contest organized by @benton3. For this week we will be drawing a goose. This is actually my first time seeing the actual goose animal (via picture though), I can only remember the popular saying which goes this way; what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

MY DRAWING PROCESS

To begin with, I brought out the following that I will be needing for my drawing
· Book
· Black pen
· Blue pen
· Blue marker
Step1: I used my black pen to make light sketches of the goose. I took my time so as to avoid mistakes since I wasn’t using a pencil.
I added the feathers, beak, the feet and everything that makes up a goose.

Step 2: I doubled shaded on the light sketches I made on step 1 so as to highlight the lines.

Step 3: finally, I used the blue marker to make it look colorful. I also used the blue marker to add my username on top of it.

Have you ever seen one?

Honestly, I haven’t seen a goose before, but from the pictures I have seen so far, I’ll say it looks like a duck fowl.

Is it edible in your locality?

Goose is not a common animal in my area; hence I doubt if people in my locality will eat it if it was common because people around hear forbids duck fowl. And goose is giving me the duck fowl vibe by its look.

Characteristics of a goose.

Goose are relatives of duck fowl and swan, yes they all belong to the same family. Goose spend more time in water hence they are called water fowl. After reading some interesting articles on goose, these are some of the unique and intriguing things I came to love about them;

1. Goose are very loyal and I love how faithful the goose are to their partner. When they find their special one they stick to that mate for a very….. long time and most times for a lifetime. They do things together with this special one; like flying together, spending quality time together and making babies. And together they raise goslings together.
   Even when they are done raising their young ones the geese couple stay together just because they love being together. This makes them unique.

2. They fly higher than duck fowl

3. Their honks are really loud, they also use it as a means of communication among themselves.

4. They love changing their environment to a more conducive one.

Why do we have the phrase the wild goose chase?

In the 16th century hunting goose was one of the very popular sports in those days, that time hunters would chase this animal in an attempt to catch it, the goose will lead them on till they get to a very long distance and then they will just fly away, the hunter would go back home empty handed. Therefore, this phrase ‘wild goose chase’ has been used as a metaphor to describe any venture that yields no result.
