Introduction

Hi everyone. It's nice to be here once again. Good day and welcome to my first post in this community.

I want to use this post to inform this community about what it's like to be a Nigerian. I am from Nigeria and everyone in Nigeria has something to say about our Country, whether positive or influential.

I want to make some descriptions of what it's like to live in Nigeria or to be a Nigerian. Please read through.

Nigeria as a country

Nigeria is a west African country, seemingly the most popular and active country in West Africa. It has neighboring countries such as Benin Republic, Togo, Ghana and Cameroon. Nigeria is rightly tagged as the 'Giant of Africa'. This name reflects our identity, performance and achievements in sports, economic development and administration. The landscape environment and position of Nigeria is excellent as regards, being a defence factor to natural disasters. There are more of deserts and savanna in the northern parts and Marshy lands and forests in the Eastern, western and southern sides due to their nearness to the Pacific ocean.

Nigeria has four major tribes, namely, Igbo, Idoma, Yoruba and Hausa. We also have other tribes that are found speaking hundreds of interesting languages and practicing thousands of fascinating cultures and traditions.

Nigeria is ranked as the 8th most populous country in the world, and the 1st in Africa. This is because, the country has produced lots of iconic individuals, valuable items, respected policies, and fascinating talents in the entertainment industry. Therefore, tourists and immigrants troop in, while indigenes multiply too. As a matter of fact, recently, there has been some set backs in the administration, politics and economy which has reduced the esteem of the country in political and economic terms.

It's a nice feeling to be at your home town in Nigeria. The love, the affection, the care, the cool air, and the nature of the vast green vegetation landscapes and environs bring a certain amount of peace of mind to the inhabitants of the rural areas. The commercial and business areas are full of fascinating technology, thousands of busy productive industries and markets, and busy roads. The sight is overwhelming especially in Lagos.

There are 36 states in Nigeria and one federal capital territory known as Abuja.

The major landmarks in my country are the Zouma Rock, River Niger and the River Benue, Kainji Dam, National Theatre for Arts, Admiralty Way, Obudu Cattle Ranch, The Third mainland Bridge, Alaba international Market, Apapa Wolf, Ariara International Market, and other numerous landmarks which are centers of attraction and tourism.

Business and Commerce

Talking about business and commercial areas, you will always see people that are going about their different activities, always busy always in a haste, and always serious with their circular activities. The income generated in Nigeria everyday if managed well will be enough to feed the whole Country for 'some days'.

Nigeria's key income generator is a natural resource which abounds in the country, known as the 'black gold' which is petroleum. Currently, It is exported for refining and is imported back and sold to various countries. I don't know why Nigeria doesn't have a current active refinery.
Importation and export trade is another massive sector that produces funds for the Nigerian Market. They also depend on funds and taxation generated from financial institutions and corporate private sectors.

Nigeria has hundreds of big international markets, malls and industries. Most of these industries, companies, markets and businesses are run with indigenization policies in order to. Reduce the involvement of foreigners and improve indigenes employment rate.

Industrousness is a he trademark of the Nigerian inhabitants. That is why some of the richest people in Africa hail from Nigeria. The Igbos are known for their business and trading knowledge, farming and hard jobs. The Yorubas are known for their ability to thrive in intelligence units, universities, office works and corporate sector, the Hausas are known for their Industrousness and mobility, commercial farming, and vast business knowledge.

Accommodation and Shelter

In Nigeria, the most popular and populated places are the most expensive. Especially Lagos State, Abuja,Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Enugu, Benin City and other cities too. These places are seen as the sample cities and acquire a good measure of tourism worth. This is the main reason why the population keeps increasing daily. People from rural areas around the country troop in to Lagos especially to find a living or greener pastures. And this has greatly facilitated the rapid inflation in accommodation and housing. Places close to tourist attractions and major business areas are monstrous in rent price. In such areas, many people are found sleeping at unprotected places and under bridges just to survive the night and look on for another day. But some affordable and cheap accommodations can be found in rural places.

Livelihood and Administration

In Nigeria, there is a fair rate of livelihood. At least, the middle class people can afford basic needs like food, shelter and clothing almost comfortably.

Moreover, the rate of unemployment and inflation severely affects a country's economy especially when the ratio of the low class is higher than the sum of the middle class and high class people. That's the situation in my country. I can say that two -third of the population is poor, therefore, the expensive and cozy stuffs revolve within the rich people.

Another aspect of business that can be of great gain in Nigeria is importation and exportation. Many people who started up foreign trade business and have grown the business to import level are really making it in Nigeria.

Foods and Entertainment

Nigeria has a vast range of food products, ranging from rice, Yam, Casava, Plantain, Maize, Beans, and other major foods. These major foods are used in producing other foods like flour, Garri, Semovita, Moi Moi, Fufu, and hundreds of foods. Moreover, different tribes and cultures have their own foods and ways of serving them. They are uncountable. Mostly, I admire the ability of the Igbos in preparing many kinds of local soups like Egusi, Ogbono, Ofeakwu, Nsala, Afang, Okazi, Okra, Uha, Uziza, Onugbo, Ofe ede, Vegetable soup, white soup.

And other soups. This ability is noticed and acknowledged in the Eastern and Southern parts of Nigeria. Other tribes have their own foods too. The Yorubas have Amala, Ewedu, Beans foods, and some soups too. The type of Food to cook in Nigeria isn't a problem... The problem is the money to Afford them. The majority of the masses are mostly poor and can afford only a certain small level of food quality.

Entertainment is what we use to compensate ourselves in Nigeria. Entertainment is top notch when it comes to comedy, local drama, music, sports and recreation. Nigeria is an advocate of sports, music and comedy. We have well known actors, comedians, musicians and sportspersons across the globe. Nigerian music's are also played and enjoyed by other countries of the world.

In Nigeria generally, Weekends are meant for enjoyment and recreation. We carry out our secular activities during the week and make out time on weekends to rest and enjoy life. Many people visit Ocean sides, Beaches, Cinema, Wedding ceremonies, Malls and other amusement parks for recreation.

Culture, Norms and Morals

In Nigeria, children are raised to be responsible, respectful and hard working, especially in rural communities. Farming, fishing and trading are key aspects of the things you can see in rural areas. Children who learn these skills will help their families grow and develop their own business as they grow up too. Children are taught to respect their elders around, run errands, and be absorbed in education. Discipline is a priority in Nigerian schools too.

Many cultures have different amazing sights. Masquerades, dances, sports festivals, annual events, and other activities make the Western, Eastern Middle Belt and Southern parts of Nigeria a great place to behold. Moreover, the Northern part is dominated by the Hausas and their numerous cultures are too beautiful to describe. You need to see the way they dress, ride the horses, the camels, and do things together. Most of them are Muslims too, while most other parts of Nigeria are dominant by Christians and traditionalists.
We have traditional weddings, anniversaries, and occasions that remind us of our forefathers culture, and we try to maintain those cultures.

How to Survive in Nigeria

Almost every body in Nigeria is a lover of music, sports and comedy because There is hardship and the economy and political system keeps getting worse every day. So we use entertainment to forget our sorrows.

If You Want to survive in Nigeria, have something doing to fetch yourself food for the day, be it Hawking, trading, business or service. Be patient, kind and hard working. Always have a reason to smile, and help others too when you can. That's the key to being basically happy in Nigeria. Residents digression is advised.
