SEC WK 2:The language in my Country

Happy day Steemians!

It's an opportunity to honor this important contest organized by @steem4nigeria community titled, Second week 2:the language in my country.
Before,we go further we should be able to know the meaning of languages.

Language simply means the system of communication that is acceptable to a particular group of people. Language is a set of codes that is organize and use by a particular group of people.

Now having known about language,let us also acknowledge the following questions by answering them:

The name of my country is Nigeria and Nigeria is a multilingual country with about 525 native languages according to research, though there's no accurate statistics on the particular numbers of languages we have in Nigeria because the language kept growing in almost every region of the country.

I live in a multilingual community in Nasarawa Egggon LGA to be precise and in my region,we speak languages such as Eggon,Mada, Hausa, and English.
Therefore,I am familiar with Eggon which is my mother tongue and Hausa and English.

Language is a beautiful thing to learn, finding yourself in a community with many language is an opportunity for your to learn. Far back,when I was working in Abuja, I can remember how the environment seems to be unfriendly to me, people are busy going about their daily activities without tolerance and also it is difficult to talk to a stranger, because it's hard to trust someone,my life in Abuja was a hard one from the beginning because anytime I am trying to ask questions,I get a weird look in reply,I felt rejected not until I find a Hausa man and I decided to talk to him in Hausa language and I was delighted on how he answered me and welcome me by responding so pleasant to me and he directed me to the right address infact,he walk with me to the right place.

After sometime,any moment I went to the market to purchase foodstuffs,I usually speak in Hausa language to the Hausa traders and they make me their friend not even a customer but a special customer and I do receive a whole lot of free things and discount from them.

It's a possibility that my children must learn how to speak their language, especially their mother tongue.
To be realistic,our mother tongue in Africa is gradually going to extinction,it is mandatory for parents to teach their children how to communicate in their native languages.

Language is what bond us together as humans, therefore we should endeavor to speak our language and be proud of it and not abandoning it totally,in order to learn the foreign language (L2).
