**Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 75: My fundamental human rights
Felicitation dear steem4Nigeria and the community, it's a great pleasure to meet y'all and I believe you're all doing great in your different homies.
Fundamental human rights were implemented for a better living. The United Nations implemented these rights with the aim of helping every citizen of a country to live without distinction or discrimination, free from servitude, and lots more. There's a lot to talk about human rights; journey with me as I use my right to share my opinion.
How do you explain fundamental human rights? |
---|
The freedom or privilege to live, talk publicly, move from place to place, decide or make a religious preference, and have liberty without discrimination—all these are called fundamental human rights, and every citizen is entitled to withhold these rights in a certain state of residence.
In other words, the fundamental human rights are the rights inherited by every citizen of a state. They are called human rights because there's no criteria to meet or human qualifications to uphold before having the privilege to access them; as long as you're a living soul, you're entitled to these rights.
The interesting part is that these rights are fundamental, meaning that there's no negotiation or limit to these rights; instead, they are inalienable to every citizen. These rights cannot be deprived from the citizens because they are protected by international law.
Do you think all the citizens have these rights, or is it only made for the rich? (You can give examples if any). |
---|
Originally, these rights were implemented for all the citizens regardless of their status, but today it seems like these rights are of more benefit to the rich; for example, if the rich and the poor are in a court of law, the rich will definitely win regardless of the poor's rights. This shows the influence of wealth, money over human rights.
Have you been deprived of expressing your fundamental human rights before? What action did you take? |
---|
Yes, I once experienced this situation during my senior secondary school year. My school was scheduling a football competition with another secondary school in another locality. When the fixed day came, almost every student in the school went to watch this match without the principal's awareness.
On their way to the school, the community people where their opponent's school is established picked a fight with my school because they were crowded, so these people thought they were coming for fights. My school couldn't resist it as they retaliated.
My school was known for been brutal so this knowledge lead this community people to picking a fight, they judge based on what they heard. The fight was too heavy to the extent where the news went to the opponent school principal, and he picked up a cell phone to call my principal; without being acknowledged, he called the policemen, and they came to arrest students. That was how they separated the fight because every student, including the community people, ran to save themselves.
The principal was smart; he distributed numbers to the available students in school who didn't attend the match. This situation happened on Friday, and I couldn't make it to school, so I had no clue about the whole message. On Monday, when everyone least expected it, the principal called the whole school for an announcement and started calling the number he distributed. I didn't have a number because I wasn't in school, and the innocent me was flogged along with the student without giving a chance to express myself.
Mention and explain at most three fundamental human rights of your country. |

Design by me, edited on canva.
Right to life. This right ensures that every breathing soul is entitled to live without being killed, either arbitrarily, by murder, or by all types of killing. Because of this right, we have the opportunity to survive, having the basic needs and wants of life.
Right to Freedom of expression. This right gives every citizen the freedom to express and defend themselves and share points of view. It doesn't matter where a citizen is and who's interfering with your rights; influence or not influenced, everyone has the right to speak out if falsely accused.
Right to assemble peacefully. This right grants every citizen the privilege to gather as a group, share common interests or opinions, and relate whatever together in a peaceful manner.
Which of the fundamental human rights should be removed from the law? (Give your reasons). |
---|
Basically, human beings cannot live in liberty and secure in this current world, so I guess **the right to liberty and security should be removed. We don't have the right to liberty. I'm saying this because you won't drive your car a far distance without government road safety arresting you and finding something to tax you.
We're not secure because each night we sleep with half-open eyes; this is because we're scared of thieves robbing our house. Sad enough, @okere-blessing fell victim to this a few days ago; it was quite ridiculous. Anyway, we're happy that they spared their lives because life is more important than anything.**
There's nothing like the right to a fair hearing because injustice is everywhere, and nobody cares about your right. The weirdest thing is that, if you're not wealthy, you'll see your rights being robbed in front of you, so we better live our lives without these rights than have them but earn nothing from them.
In conclusion, human rights were supposed to bring peace, harmony, justice, and dignity to the country, but the people chose money over rights, which reflects the negative way. As enlisted, these rights were supposed to be fundamental to every citizen and not mere.

This statement raises the issue of inequality in the implementation of human rights due to the influence of wealth and money. Ideally, basic rights should apply to all citizens without discrimination

I like this part human rights were supposed to bring peace, harmony, justice, and dignity to the country, but the people chose money over rights, which reflects the negative way. And what you have written here is the truth of the matter
