My Neighborhood Watch #81 - Reporting Events Around us
In this our neighborhood am living, there’s always something happening daily, but one of the most interesting things is my neighbor, which is also my uncle, and his dwarf coconut farm.
He is the only person in our entire neighborhood who grows the dwarf coconuts. His farm is just a short walk from hishouse, and it’s not very large, but it’s full of these short coconut trees. Seriously, these coconut trees are much shorter than regular coconut trees, making it easy to harvest the coconuts. I never eat these coconut before, but I ate it today. These coconuts are sweet and full of refreshing water.
Today when I pass by on my way to work I saw him on the farm trying to harvest the coconut. He’s always there, working hard, watering the trees, checking the soil, and keeping pests away. I ask him how the coconut taste. That was when he gave me one to taste. My uncle really cares about his trees, and you can see it in how healthy and strong they look.
I asked him why he chooses the Short coconut than the tall ones . He said that he started growing dwarf coconuts because he wanted to try something different and new. That he as been seeing and hearing of others state and country planting it ,so he wanted trying too. After doing a lot of research, he found out that these trees are not only easy to manage but also very profitable. In a single tree he harvested more than 50 pieces of Coconut fruit's that's so huge harvest. He sells the coconuts in large quantities to our local markets, shops, and even some popular bar places. People love the sweet taste of these dwarf coconuts and keep coming back for more. Because of this, his farm has become quite famous in our area.
Recently, he started planting another more dwarf coconut trees. He showed me the new saplings he had planted. They were small and delicate, very soon they would grow into strong trees just like the others. Some neighbors are even thinking about growing their own unique plants too ,to stand out in the neighborhood.
My uncle is always willing to share his knowledge. He often invites people to visit his farm and learn about dwarf coconuts. He believes that knowledge should be shared, and he is always happy to help others who are interested in farming.
As soon as I spent some time with him I left to work. I'm just waiting to see how the new farm he planted the coconut will look like.
