"Happiness is like a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you".
– Nathaniel Hawthorne
Many people chase happiness but end up not being happy, we all want to live a life of happiness and many things bring happiness to us. A popular artist said "Money doesn't bring happiness", I think it is from an extended view because the amount of joy and happiness we get when we get a credit alert is always out of this world. He was looking at the fact that when there's more money then there are more problems and no peace of mind.
People are now looking for a happy life not minding the situation of things, I need to be happy. Many people are deeply depressed and sad and all they want to find is happiness, that's why I have time to be more happy.
One of my happiest childhood memories |
---|
Children are always happy about almost everything, they are less sad as they have nothing to think of, I did find myself in this shoe as I had unlimited happiness at that stage. One of my memorable childhood days was during my primary school days, I was in primary 5 and the Milo company came for an advert in our school, since it was a Friday we were always prepared to go for our sports around 9 am.
While I went to the nursery section to check for a teacher I saw an arrangement that looked like a stage set up in the field, I saw the Milo banner up and clear. While in the class the bell rang and we were all asked to move to the field, we had a series of happy moments as we learned more about the product and their signatory clap. There were lots of prizes, milo drinks, caps, balls and lots more.
An announcement was made by one team leader there that the pupils who took the first position from primary 4-6 should come out for huge prizes, I was so happy because I took the first position in my class. My class teacher called me out as we stood in front of the school, I was lost in the moment, only if I could express that happiness. I was given a cap and sachets of milo. I was just eager to reach home and show my mom the prizes.
A Recent Happy Moment |

In this particular regime, one of the things that could make you happy is a credit alert. I was down financially these days but I just saw a giveaway online, I moved past it but I just felt like taking part so I went back to it, it was just a simple task with likes and comments on Twitter, I carried on those tasks and I went back to steemit.
When I went back to WhatsApp I saw my name listed there as one of the winners to get 5k naira, I was happy right from that moment till now. Money brings happiness.
How happiness impacts our overall well-being |
---|
You cannot be happy and be in a state of sadness or depression, it's either you're in one. When someone is happy the person tends to forget all those negative things affecting them at the moment, happiness seems to thrive during this period. When people are happy their mental health is always stable as they don't have much to think of.
Is Happiness a choice? |
---|
There are lots of views on this and it is controversial, I don't see happiness as a choice, like us choosing when to be happy and when to be sad. Things happen to make us happy, we can just tell our mind to be happy and it becomes happy, even if you smile physically, you will know mentally that you're not happy.
When you get a new phone, you're happy, when you graduate you're happy, happiness is pushed by these acts and you can't just choose to be happy with anything occurring so I don't think happiness is a choice.
How do you cope with difficult times to ensure you still find moments of happiness? |
---|
I always believe that there are greater times ahead, many people commit suicide just because they're depressed and can't cope with the hard times. I am always relentless, always putting in more effort to make sure I cope during hard moments, like this one we are all in now.
There are always happy days ahead, your hard work today will also contribute to how Happy you will become in the future.
Would love to invite @davidmarkgeorge @precious9 and @johnmitchel to take part
"Your insightful reflection on happiness resonates deeply. You've skillfully woven together personal anecdotes, philosophical perspectives and practical advice.
Happiness indeed seems elusive when pursued directly, yet it often emerges from life's simple joys. Your childhood Milo advert experience and recent giveaway win illustrate this point beautifully
Your conclusion that happiness isn't solely a choice sparks interesting debate. While external events influence happiness, intentional mindset shifts can also contribute.
Thank you for sharing your thoughtful exploration of happiness!"

Just like you said that in this recent time, it's credit alert that can make one happy but I still believe there are other things that can make you happy in this current time.

Money really brings happiness though.
A lovely childhood you got.
I bet you can still recall the taste of the Milo🤭🤭
I bet you can also recall the taste of the Milo drink, or you were too young then😅
I can recall it vividly 😂😂
I wish it could happen again
With the current economic state?
They would spend so much to make sure that happens
