My School

I am a proud product of "Ebonyi State University". Ebonyi State University is located in "Abakaliki" the capital city of the state. The school is known for its academic reputation and excellence and has produced numerous great personalities in different disciplines since its inception in 1991.

My Worst High School Experience

There were lots of experiences I had during my high school days but the one I considered my worst was actually the early days of school. I was unsteady due to my late arrival to school which was after matriculation. I happen to be one of the latest set to be admitted.

The publication of the list took place on Thursday while matriculation was slated for Saturday hence it became so hasty for me because I already had given up on admission for that year. Traveling from my place of residence down to Abakaliki in Ebonyi State was indeed a long journey.

So I wasn't ready, this was accompanied by too many hitches as I wasn't in any way prepared for school. Of course, I missed the matric so I can take some time to get ready before completely resuming.

I joined the clique of coursemates on my resumption though they were months ahead of me and lectures had gone too far. I was left with no choice but to embrace hard work to catch up with them. I followed both day and night tutorial classes to ensure I met up.

Reading became a mandatory hobby, and night sleep was sent on a journey, I was very distressed and struggled so arduously to catch up because the examination was in one month. This was indeed a stressful and strenuous moment for me

It got to a point where I began regretting I didn't decline the admission. To worsen the matter, the older students took advantage of the novelty and scared me with the information that I would stay an additional year in school supposing I failed a course.

Lessons Learnt

Indeed, I learned significant lessons one of which is that one needs to be resilient and adaptable to any tough situation that could emerge.

I went the extra mile in hard work in the first semester and the result was outstanding, funny enough it was the best in all my years in school. The other years were nice but this problematic entry stage happened to be the best.

It is crystal clear to me that being resilient as pointed out earlier in everything we do puts us on the verge of success. Possessing a positive mindset and mentality is another requisite for achieving goals. We become our best and at an optimum level when we are faced with challenges as we take the bull by the horns and are more determined to prevail.

In addition, we should do anything humanly possible to make the best out of any situation rather than have and dwell in regrets. I nearly regretted it and backed out due to the situations encompassing it but I kept pushing and finally made it. In the long run, it became worthwhile and produced a net benefit for me and was also the most outstanding semester all through my 5 years in school.
