Introduction

I am delighted to make my entry for this weeks amazing contest organized by Steem4Nigeria Community. My desire to see a more dynamic steem growth in my country Nigeria made me to love this contest and I would like to share with us my ideas on how we can move Steemit from what it is, to where we want it to be in my dear country Nigeria. First of all, Let me tell you how far Steemit has gone in my Country.

image.png

How well is Steemit known in your Country? Do you think it's popular enough or there is a need for more publicity?

Nigeria has a population in excess of 200 million as at 2022. Little wonder it is the most populous black race. The youth population is in excess of 40 million. When we compare the two figures with the number of Active Nigerians on Steemit (which I believe is not up to 1 million), then I can confidently say that Steemit is not yet popular in my country.

Trying to put this issue in direct spotlight, Steemit popularity fares badly when compared with other really popular social media platforms like Facebook which has millions of active Nigerians using it daily. Considering Steemit popularity by city and States, it still is not popular. Nigeria has 36 states plus the FCT. Nigerians on Steemit wont represent up to 20 states. Considering the spread of Steemians among the cities too, I can confidently say that Steemit is not yet as popular as other social media platforms in Nigeria.

I believe we can do more to make Steemit popluar

A lot of work - promotional work - needs to be done if we want Steemit to become popular again in Nigeria. We need to create a coordinated promotional campaign that will simultaneously happen across the cities and states in Nigeria, that way we can make Steemit popular.

What are the ways you think the promotion of Steemit can be more effective in your Country? This can include special projects you have in mind.

Well, I would like to talk about some effective ways we have promoted Steemit and other ways I believe we can try out.

  • Sustained Radio Presentations: Radio presentations represent a very effective way to reach the audience here. Lots of people in Nigeria Listen to Radio everything. So if you want to reach them quickly and effectively, always air Steemit and you will get response.

  • Sharing fliers in public places: This is another popular way to create awareness in Nigeria. When you have people in Steem branded cloths share fliers in public places such as popular road junctions, around super-markets, and other places, it helps to create awareness.

  • Partnerships with Private Organizations: I believe we can seriously partner with organizations or businesses that that deal with a lot of people. This includes eateries, tertiary institutions, Churches, and even NGOs. These are organizations that can give us access to a large population of people to speak to.

  • Social Media Sponsored Ads: This has been a very effective method of creating awareness in Nigeria. Because Social media like Facebook is so popular and Nigerians spend a lot of time there, we can run sponsored ads on various social media and get the result we want.

  • Referral Program: We can create a referral system where old users are rewarded for bringing their friends to Steemit. Person-to-person marketing represents one of the best and most effective way to create awareness. If people are properly motivated, they will get their friends to join.

  • Charitable Projects: Another way to show that something works is to touch lives. If we can create more charitable projects sponsored by Steem, people would see how Steemit is changing lives and would like to be a part of it.

Do you think Steemit would be adopted more in your country if the points you listed above are implemented?

The answer is a capital YES. In fact, as a long term promoter of Steem in Nigeria, I have implemented majority of the methods mentioned above with amazing success rate. Most of the many newbies I have helped to join this platform where gotten by some of the methods listed above. So I am rock-solid sure that those methods are effective and practical.

How have you contributed your quota to the development of Steemit in your community?

Well, I can say I have done reasonably well in Steem development. I strongly believe I will always remain a big part of the history of Steem Develpoment in Nigeria. Here are a few ways I did that.

  • Radio Presentations: I have continued to run Radio presentations for Steemit since 2019. Many new users heard me on Radio and that was how they got to know about steemit. Today some of them are very successful on Steemit.

  • Steem Road Show: I was behind the largest most coordinated promotion campaign ever done in Nigeria. I called the project Steem Road Show. With more than 200 volunteers across 7 cities in Nigeria, we simulteniously promoted Steem in public places like busy road junctions and schools.

  • Charity Projects (Food4thought): I recently launched a Steem Promotion project with a touch of charity. We gave out food items to newbies that did well in their first 9 days on Steemit. Some of the beneficiairies like @kaduru61 are still active.

  • Promotion Targeted to business owners (Sell More): My most recent project is SELLMORE. It is a Steem Promotion Project designed to get businesses to join Steemit and find more customers. We have already started reaching out to businesses for this project.

  • Founding SteemAlive: I am the founder of SteemAlive community, the first Nigerian Community that became a gateway to Steemit for Nigerians since 2020. I can safely say that more than 90% of active Nigerians on Steemit today benefitted directly or indirectly from our community projects - recruitment, mentorship and other forms of support. We have produced leaders including CRs, Academy Professors, Community Curators, Moderators, and others. They are still doing well today.

  • Fliers, Tshirts, Facebook Ads: I have exhausted all avenues of creating awareness except just few. I have printed fliers, done many banners, run sponsored ads on Facebook and other forms of branding. These are ways I have created awareness on Steemit.

  • Steemit Training Center: I established the first and still the biggest Steemit training center in my city, Aba. The address is 208 Azikiwe Road Aba. I recently, I listed our address on google maps so that new users can easily find us.

Conclusion

Nigeria is a big country in Africa with a really large population. I strongly believe we are yet to reach our full potentials. With more coordinated efforts at promotion and mentorship, more people will get to know Steemit. Eventually, Steemit will become a household name in my country - Soonest.

I really want to say, you have killed it, indeed steemit is not popular here oo, not once I have stumbled on any steemian apart from my sister @estyroberts, steemit indeed needs more awareness.

Concerning the fliers, people usually squeeze that, so I will like for you to consider billboards. Every other method you mentioned should be please guaranteed, especially the reward system, to promote interest of recruitment.

I guess one the troubles of recruitment is that of not been established on your own, steemit is a business and if it wants to attract others it needs to be doing well or have the ability to do well, in other words an individual which is not making it on steemit might not posses the mind to recruit another.

You have a great point @jammyrobets regarding the recruitment system. I have pioneered various promotion projects designed to reward newbies that made the initial efforts. I strongly believe that the Steemit team can and should do more to support newbies well in the first week or two - especially newbies that have demonstrated that they are here to stay. Our retention rate is a course for concern. More can be done to it

I really pray, they look into this post.

I hope they do. How did your Monday go? Hope you did all that you planned to do?

Actually I didn't, I will try better next time.

With great consistency and teamwork, Nigerians can achieve all our dreams for steemit. Steemit can become a household name for everyone if those suggestions you outlined in this post are put to practice.
You are are doing a great job in promoting steemit and motivating others users. Thank you for all your efforts

Woow woow this post is so so beautiful 😍. What I noticed about this post is that you are fully into Steemit for real business and you have achieved alot of things here. You are really a source of inspiration for us younger generation

You have contributed alot in this platform because you have been involved in numerous activities such as performing Radio Presentations, carrying out road show, doing charity projects and so many other activities which are all beneficial to this platform. I wish to develop this your zeal and do same for my country because it's people like you that I look up to and try to become like you

@chiabertrand. I really admire your drive and zeal here. I can only say that you will achieve more if you continue at this rate. Basically, if you can build a network of teams in various part of your country and coordinate them, do more strategic promotion projects and try to have people of same zeal with you in the team, Cameroon will grow faster. I have done Steemit fulltime since I signed up in February 2018. No regrets. I know u will achieve more than I have done in this 4 years here. I wish you all the best. Ofcourse I will be ready to support your efforts too.

Woow thank 🙏 you so much for this great tips and advice sir. Well, I will need to get to work and do just as you say because I'm highly ambitious

You are right when you say I should form a team because working with zealous people will always boost and gives you motivation. I have people that I can work with, who are also committed and ready to work if there is any work

I will have to plan out with them on how we will begin this journey. Thanks so much sir for the assurance in supporting me through this project. This motivates me and I will strive hard in making this project go well

I pray you succeed in all that you have planned. It wont always be easy. But I believe in taking small regular steps. Big things -they say - usually come in small packages.

Yeah that true sir. I do also believe too and I'm already aware that the beginning is always very tough. So this is why I won't ever give up on my mission on this

Thanks once more sir

Thanks for the invitation, honestly, our fellow Nigerians need to know more about steemit and am glad that you are processing and activating your plans to meet up with such need. Myself is also ready to work alongside you. @focusnow, keep it up. Wishing you best of lucks.

@marajah. You have been one if the most consistent persons I recruited and mentored here. Am really sure that you will do well too - just as you are in fact doing. Thanks so much for all your work in helping our community grow.

This is commendable! Your encouragement and support keeps me going. Am glad to have you as my mentor and will always support all our community's project.

One thing I respect about you is your promotion, you have used various methods to promote Steemit many are a product of your promotion, I can't agree less with your view, I second them, if in these highlighted ways Steemit is been promoted, then success is guaranteed and Steemit will be more popular in Nigeria than ever

@olabillions. Thank you for your kind words. Am happy that so many newbies then, are now more established like you. So we will definitely have more projects, more awareness campaigns and more growth within the Nigerian space. We all will work hard wherever we are to contribute to further Steem Growth Nigeria

In respect sir,
Thank you

Sharing fliers in public places

Yes this will actually catch people who are always busy. Flyers are meant for people who do not have time to listen as they always busy either going to work or have a business meeting. This are the true investors that we want on steemit. A flyer that states boldly that joining steemit is absolutely free and when you join you earn too will get a lot of peoples attention.

Partnerships with Private Organizations

Yes, this can be done through signing contracts with private organisations whose sole aim will be to get as many people on the platform as possible writhin a time frame. At the end of that time if the number of people gotten are what we expected we can resign contracts with them. And since it will be a private organisation we all know how serious they will be.

Partnerships with Private Organizations

Yes this will actually work you know 🤔

When an old user knows that when a newbies sign through is link he can get a reward then I think more people will do promotion of steemit. Since it is a win win situation☺️

can say I have done reasonably well in Steem development

Yes, and I must say that you should be proud of the work you have done. I can say that I knew you way before knowing your steemit username. And this is because of the fact that you have taken steemit promotions so seriously, you have done a great job and still continue to.

If we Nigerians call you our steemit Daddy, I don't think is bad because when i heard about steemit, i heard steemalive and uncle charles before i came to know that you @focusnow is the uncle charles.
If steemit is have referral program in Nigeria, buy now all Nigerian Communities will have up to 1 million members, you and all the early bird on steemit have so well in creating awareness and with time steemit will have a great name in Nigeria.

I believe this contest will motivate Nigerians to do more in terms of Promotion.

You have made a very good presentation. Partnering with private organizations is also important, especially organizations that are well known in the country. This will promote steemit.

You have been contributing significantly to the platform. Well-done sir. We believe with points listed, if we'll executed, will increase the number of participants in the platform.

Kind regards!
