THE UNAVOIDABLE EXERCISE

It's been a norm for 300 level Education students in some Nigerian universities to participate in a micro-teaching exercise. This always takes place in the presence of the course lectures who constitute the panel.

This exercise was a no joke activity for education students. it was too serious to be treated with levity as it is part of our continuous assessment. It's part of a course in education with the course code EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY with EDU312 as it's course code.

This exercise cuts across all departments in the faculty of education. In my unit, chemistry education,we had 11 groups that were made up of five students each and each group had a distinct topic to present on.our group topic was CAREER PROSPECTS IN CHEMISTRY.

We were to commence this exercise 2 days after semester exams but it was postponed to a week after or thereabout for reasons best known to the committee responsible for the exercise. The exercise was scheduled to accommodate two departments per day. The exercise do not have specific duration but could range from 5 to 10 minutes.

We needed to prepare ourselves as a team, get all the items we would be using for the presentation. It was really a stressful moment for me because some of my teammates were nowhere to be found.The just developed wings and flew into thin air.I had to run around to ensure we don't face any undesired outcomes. My companion at that time were my rough sheets, pen,electronic gadgets and some team members. One helped us with the designing.

This exercise has taught me lots of lessons: One, determination and persistence is key in achieving success. Two, a leader must be proactive.Three, hard work pays. Four, never to put our confidence and trust in any individual, why am I saying this, the guy that was to prepare some of the materials that were related to this course disappointed me at the rush hour, I almost got mental.My brain cell began a kind of oscillating and random motion. So one must be able to absorb shocks as a leader. Always believing in yourself

I spent sleepless night trying to put things together for our group and other groups I was assisting in the preparing of some materials the would be used for the presentation.

Finally, the night gave birth to the day we've been preparing for, it was at this point some brains in our team showed up with truck loads of ideas, and as a good leader I made empties the content in the truck ro everyone in our team and we came out of the class of 5 students successfully.

I was so excited that all the efforts of the group wasn't in vain,though some of them brought it late. We had some quality time to put our house together, strategized on how to nail our points on the wall.And wow...we made it. We came out of the room triumphantly.
