Pick a Word, Paint a Story #06"
Years ago, there lived a man in a certain community named Udo who had mystical powers and could affect the cosmos with his magical powers. Udo used this power to help the people of the land and everyone loved him for it.
The King will always ask him to come to the palace because of the close bond they had together. Everyone respected Udo for his massive contributions towards the society, has his mystical powers helped keep the village safe from all harms. But despite all his fame and wealth Udo was not married. The king is friend tired to find out several times what could be the problem but he was meant with a brick wall as Udo simply told him he has not meant the one that will own his heart. He also tried presenting different ladies to him but all his efforts proved futile.
One sunny afternoon while Udo walked down to the forest to get some herbs for his portions he meant a beautiful damsel and for Udo it was love at first sight. The Lady was a sight to behold. Her dark skin shoned under the sun and her beautiful face was that of a lovely flower. She had perfect body shape and even the tree could not help but sing about her beauty. Udo walked up to her and introduced himself and the Lady introduced herself to be Amaka.
That was the beginning of a love story. Udo fell madly in love with her and even though she was an orphan and had no relatives according to her claims, that did not deter is love for her but he saw more reasons to love and protect her. Alot of people had issues with the union especially the King is friend due to the fact that her background was not traceable but Udo blinded by love did not give heed to reasoning.
They finally got married and one could tell that Udo was deeply in love with Amaka. Few weeks into their marriage Amaka conceived and Udo was the happiest man on Earth. He stopped her from doing any strenuous work and payed people to assist her in anything she needed.
On the day of her delivery, Amaka in the local nurse hut pushed with all her might and the baby came forth the joy was interrupted with a scream from the mid wife, the baby was half human, half fish. Immediately the the once sunny whether ceased and the sun darkened. Darkness covered the whole village. Udo rushed to find out what happened and he was horrified by the sight.
He looked at Amaka is eyes asking for explanation and Amaka narrated how she came to land because she had heard of Udo in her world and fell madly in love with him. But she knew her time was up neither her and the baby can stay because they will be killed with tears in Udo eyes he took Amaka and the baby to the river before the news could get to the king and the whole village seeking for their lives. He hugged Amaka and with tears in his eyes bid her farewell. Amaka removing the charm tht made her human became a fish and swarm inside the river with the baby in tears.
The news got to the king and before he could do anything about it, Amaka was out of his reach. Although he felt sorry for his friend but there was nothing he could do. The village was in thick darkness with no sun for days. Until the gods was appeased because it was a taboo for humans to have anything to do with the water. And the sun was restored. Udo lived all his remaining years without re marrying treasuring his memories of Amaka.
