Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 54:What is the best way to retrieve debt?

in Steem4Nigeria3 months ago

Greetings to the organizer of this weekly contest. Before I proceed, I understand that the only profitable medium of exchange for humanity is money, and when the medium is not available, it pushes ones attention into debt secretion.

Debt is good and bad. It becomes bad when you fail to repay the owner and good when your stomach is almost fainting for help.

Now, let's briefly answer the following questions below:

What is debt? and how do you understand it

In the context of money, debt is an obligation that demand for a return at the end of service. Most people become wicked uncle and aunties immediately they exposed their debtors who have been snubbing them to months.

But it's unfair. How do you expect them to feed? These people sacrificed their own money to buy those things from the market, and because your stomach is biting you or that you are hungry, you went and borrow some items and promise to pay back in two to three weeks.

This is making 4 months, they haven't even seen your shadow. Even when you manage to show up, you will paste a fake story on air. But you're secretly buying from other stores with money. You're a debtor.

In the context of Jesus. Many people are debtors. The word of God have been given freely for everyone to come to the knowledge of God. But everyday by day, this same people keep postponing the visit of God to their lives.

Have you been indebted before? How did you pay back?

Yes! There are two types of people here:

  • Those who will pay back

  • Those who will not pay back.

My part is the first one. I can't sleep with two eyes open when I discover I'm owing one. If I borrow something from you, be it food or whatever; I will ensure I input your details in my notepad. This will help me to always remember the person I'm owing. And with that, I can easily pay back.

Have you ever regretted helping someone due to repayment approach from previous helpers? Share your experience

Yes! Many times. It's not easy helping. Most people will become permanently enemy with you because you helped them and they fail to pay back. They might even insult you. Arrest and do all sort of things to ensure they are on the winning side.

I will start with a least. Most times, there are things that do not matter but it matters. A family of one boy one girl (they are both mature, don't mind my intro) came to my rented apartment and was requesting for 100 naira, for them to use it and buy card, that by tomorrow morning (which was the next day), I will get it back.

First, what is 100 naira? That's chicken change for me. Then I was in Nigeria. And so I freely gave it out, expecting to get their feedback tomorrow as promised. Do you know that after that day, this humans couldn't even remember their promise. Till the time I left, nothing was return. Now, how do you expect me to still give out to them when they are challenge when the little 100 naira was hard to return. Think about that!

What do you think is the best way to retrieve debt?

The best way to retrieve debt for me:

  • Sign a public law that will affect the debtor. If he/she doesn't pay within the giving duration, although in most cases date may be extended due to mishappenings; get a police and either arrest the person or cease his/her important property.

Do you think problematic debt should be forfeited for the sake of peace?

Yes! In most cases. I remember my mother giving out 30,000 naira then to her nephew to start up a business. She voluntarily came to my mother requesting for that and promise to pay back soonest but she never do. Even when the matter almost resulted to insult, my mother have to quit. Most times, if your debtor is becoming hard to compress, please take it to God in prayers or fight-alone, die-alone 🤣🤣

I really appreciate. Thanks

Debt arising from close relatives has a better chances of being forfeited or forgotten. But if the debt arose from business engagements, there chances of the debt recovery could be high.

My best wishes for you in this contest.
