Changing the environment may be none herculean task for many because of the inconveniences this comes with. Many do not like change of environment due to so much worry and need to adapt to the new environment. For some, it is starting life all over again, from the beginning.

What difference did you notice as a result of the change in the environment?

Changing the environment comes with a lot of discomfort. Discomfort from trying to live a new life or rather start a new life again. Many fear the price they will pay just to relocate to a new environment.

Mostly, the difference here is that there is usually a cost implication required to make these changes happen. This financial cost sometimes throws us into an unplanned debt. The debt that was never incurred in the previous place of residence is surely owed in the new environment. This comes with the burden of moving from place to place, especially when full relocation is required.

Adaption of climate or weather in the new place. During the intense insecurity challenges in the northern states of my country, when the use of bombs and other denotatives, we quickly made an emergency relocation from this part of the country.

At this point, it was a difficult terrain to adapt to because of the new way of life, business transactions, and general acclimatization. My parents had to look for new ways of survival down here in the East. Luckily for us, we were all schooled in the same part of the country. It took a while, but the adjustment was achieved.

Also, I noticed in this part of the country that the cost of living, or rather, the living standard was much higher than in the northern part. This gave us a big blow initially before readjustment and readaptation were achieved.

How did you cope/ how are you adapting to the new environment?

Initially, when I came to the southern part of the country, I was challenged by the high cost of living, which gulped most of my money as a student. It was difficult to explain this to my parents, who believed that my money shouldn't have finished when I called. I quickly had to spend when it was highly necessary and possible to do that. I had to cut down on my meals, starve myself of some alternative necessities, and just have leftovers.

I had to use the school hotel system as my preferred accommodation. This was not only cheaper but safer for me since I haven't stayed out of home before now. This gave me some relative peace of mind, reduced my transportation fares to lectures, and also gave me a lifeline security-wise.

If you were asked to choose, would you prefer the old environment to the new or otherwise? Share with us your reasons.

The old environment where I grew up would have been a much preferred place of habitation at any time. But because of characteristics of insecurity that have ravaged this area, it has become a place where we can no longer sleep with our two eyes closed.

The cost of living in this area is still very high. I know this is connected with the area being a primary hub for food production in the country, and this, by extension, brought about a lower standard of living.

Job opportunities and employment seem to be more available. There is less competition, unlike the highly contested job slots in the southern part.

This is my write-up on this topic. I am inviting, @eveetim, @chima09, and @mkgirl77
