My Neighborhood Watch #65 - Reporting Events Around us

There's nothing so painful as starting your day happily and ending it badly. It just means the day ended badly, but this is quite different though. You may not be surprised as to what I'm going to say from the picture above but you would want to know what happened. It's that of the Steemian who got married on a weekend last week. We watched him exchange marital vows with his wife in a LGA the wife is from.

The day the event was held was a rainy day. The weather was so gloomy that morning to the point that I doubted if I would attend the marriage. Luckily for us the attendees and those who had the event, the rain allowed us to merry and enjoy the moment without spoiling our day and practiced dance.

I was in charge of the photo and video of the event, which I did justice to. Leaving from Uyo to Nsit Atai, Akwa Ibom State, was quite challenging for me and @ngoenyi at first, as we didn't see a suitable vehicle that would take us there conveniently, and also there were lots of confusions brought about by those who were heading to the place, but regardless, we went there and got to see @ngoenyi in his beautiful native attire.

It was the happiest day of his life where he had to publicly leave the road to a single life. Words couldn't just express how happy I was seeing him smile the way he smiled that day. I made sure I made his day memorable.

He took pictures with all his siblings, of which I ensured that, as shown in the pictures below. Guests that honoured his event were @ngoenyi, @okere-blessing, @jewel005, @alli001, and me. We got ourselves entertained by the food and drinks shared and then took him out as friends to the event. This is the tradition.

The groomsmen and family members except the parents and other relatives would go out to a compound and dance the groom to the venue first before the wife. I witnessed @ubikool dance gracefully as he found his missing rib as an angel. She was beautifully adorned and brought in for presentation. Traditional rites were done before full handover.

Before this was done, the couple danced with their accomplice to traditional songs that fit in the ceremony. If I were to count the number of photographers that were present to capture every moment, you wouldn't believe. Literally, everyone was a photographer, and they obstructed the audience from seeing the couple dance.

Those hired video coverage personnel and me as photographer didn't even see space to do my work well as the crowd was overwhelming that even the master of ceremonies couldn't control. Button phones were used to capture moments too to show how vibrant the crowds were. Despite these, the marriage was successfully done, and the floor was open for freestyle dance as traditional songs were played.

I don't really know what gave me such courage, but you needed to see me dance that day. I danced as though I were the groom. Watch out for the full video in my diary game entry tomorrow. It was a successful day for the Steemians who attended and guests of the celebrant, @ubikool.

Ruined Happy Moments

But it didn't end well with the family of the celebrant, as one of them got involved in an accident when returning home. I was so shocked to hear this sad news the following day. How can such happen when the whole week is supposed to be graceful, happy, and loud. I got the information from @alli001 that @ubikool sister whom I captured that day was unconscious in the hospital. I was like,How? What happened? That's when he told me the whole story.

From his narration, he said all of them, including the celebrant and family, got home safely, but as the sister of the celebrant wanted to go back with her husband and child to their house in a vehicle, the vehicle crashed on another vehicle and spun over to the point that his sister flew out of the vehicle and landed badly on the road.

The shock and hit on her forehead made her unconscious up until now. She was breathing so heavily that passersby helped rush her to the nearby hospital. Her husband and child were in good condition, not really affected. It was just her that got affected and sustained serious injury to her legs.

She was on oxygen the whole night and was transferred the following day to a specialised hospital where professional doctors who would process her scan and other checkups would do so effectively. I was so pained, even though I am not a relative.

@ubikool is currently in a depressed state because of his sister's condition, same with the husband of the sister. Death was looking for a meal that night but found the wrong person. We need your prayers as she's still unconscious in the hospital.

We know very well she's a strong woman and will fight for her life, but we all need your prayers for @ubikool sister to revive from this comic state. I paid her a visit yesterday in the hospital and saw her devastating state, breathing heavily as though she would give up. What I saw in the hospital couldn't contain me.

If you see the way people were fighting for their lives there, you'll know that the real suffering is in the hospital. Most of them were on oxygen, and one of them passed on while struggling for his life. I never had such an idea that people are suffering this much. Just go to a specialised general hospital and witness for yourself. You'll have every reason to thank God for life.

It was a happy day as beautiful moments were shared and also a sad day as thoughts and prayers were involved. I hope she conquers this and fights for her life in the hospital. She needs your loving and heartfelt comments to wake up. Please blow the comment section and support in any way you can.

Just a day they spent there, they've already spent close to 300k in naira, which is 1200 steems. Life is very important, but money sustains it. @ubikool won't be fine as his own blood is laid in a comic state. He needs our words of encouragement and assurance that no sustained injury would allow his sister to be in such a state for long. This is what happened in my neighbourhood.
