Good evening My Fellow Distinguish Steemians in the community, it's a pleasure to join with you all in this week Neighbourhood Watch Organize by @xkool24. I sincerely give appreciate 🙏 to him for throwing this opportunity to the floor which I picked with ease.

Today, I've always want to talk about it and then I believe this the perfect moment to discuss about an important issue in my neighbourhood, Most especially here on Abak Road in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. I've lived here for Three years now and the issue is about the drainage system, which works is to helps carry rainwater away so that our streets can stay dry and very much safe.

The Poor Drainage System in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State

In my area here, the drainage system is definitely not working well. All the gutters, which are all meant to let water flow, are all blocked. They are indeed filled with dirt, waste, sand, and even the grass growing in them, this actions which stops the water from moving so freely and get worst every year passed.
When it rains in our area, this always lead to a very big problems to inhabitants and pedestrian.

Water on the Road

Because of the gutters being blocked, rainwater cannot go where it should with ease. But Instead of flowing properly into the drains, the water all spills over onto the road because the space in the gutters are not found. This always makes it very difficult for the cars, Tricycle (Keke) and people to get around. Sometimes, even the water flowing can be so deep that it covers the road, making it really dangerous to drive or walk when raining 🌧️.

Flooding in Homes

The poor and unfortunate drainage system is really not just a problem for the roads. When it do rains heavily, the water sometimes enter people's homes. Many of the families have had water come into their rooms, causing many damage and making it so hard to live. This flooding that always happens can be very scary and so uncomfortable for everyone.

Call to the Government

I do believe that it is very important for our own dear state government to pay attention to this issue happening in this location. They need to please come to our area and help us fix the drainage system. This indeed means cleaning out the gutters and also removing all the waste and dirt that are blocking the water flow. By so doing this, our dear streets will be more safer, and our homes will be truly protected from flooding.

Conclusion

The drainage system on Abak Road here in Uyo needs what i suggest an urgent attention. I believe we all here on earth want to live in a safe and really clean environment. By working well together, we can ask the government to please help us improve our drainage system, keep our dear roads clear, and so protect our homes from the flooding. Let’s all hope for a better future for our neighbourhood steemians!
