Explanation

A new contest has been organized in the community, where we are asked to draw a seahorse. Today, this drawing is a new experiment for me! Because I have never drawn a seahorse before. So without further delay, let’s get started.

Step 01

To draw the seahorse, first, I gather all the necessary items nearby and then try to lightly sketch out a rough outline of the seahorse. It looks quite incomplete, so I’ll now try to complete the remaining parts nicely.

Step 02

	Using gel pen

Now, I will use a gel pen to sketch the head of the seahorse. Then, I’ll sketch the lower part of its body. My sketch looks somewhat okay.

Step 03

	Small circles shape all over the drawing

Next, I’ll draw small circles all over the drawing. My drawing work is complete, so now I’ll move on to the next step.

Step 04

	Start to color

Now, I’ll start coloring. For the coloring, I start with the head, where I’ve used a brownish-orange color.

Step 05

	Using blue color

Then, I’ll use blue. While coloring, I have applied blue from the edge of the head all the way down to the tail.

Step 06

	Using green color

From the face to the end of the tail, I’ll now use green. I’ve used blue for the eye part.

Step 07

Middle part of it

On the spiral-shaped fin-like part in the middle of the seahorse’s body that I drew, I’ll color it now. Here, I’ve used a combination of orange, yellow, and brown.

Step 08

This step is my final step in coloring. Now, from the mouth, along the jawline, across the belly, down to the very tip of the tail, I’ll apply a combination of orange and yellow.

What type of animal is it?

Seahorses are bit similar to sea fish. Their looks are quite different from the general appearance of a fish. Its name is derived from the shape and look of their head, which resembles a horses head. They are called Hippocampus scientifically, and most of them dwell in the waters of warm tropical climate. Seahorse has long curly tail to grasp the sea plant or stone rather firmly. They used to live mostly in and around the Sundarbans and in some parts of the Bay of Bengal in Bangladesh. They are very small.

Have you ever seen one?

Unfortunately, I have never spotted a seahorse in person. But I saw their pictures and videos in the books and on the mobile/television. They look small, unique and gorgeous. They are interesting creatures due to their slender body and all the nice colors behind them.

Of what use is it to humans?

Although seahorses are not consumed as seafood their use extends to medicine, particularly in Chinese medicine. People of Bangladesh do not use seahorses in general but still it has certain ecological significance.
