JUST BE KIND

One of the most powerful things we can do as humans are to be kind. We don't need to be wealthy to be kind to others. Kindness in its most basic form is still a good deed. There's no need to feel compelled to demonstrate how generous you are.

To put it another way, being kind is more than just helping others as an act of generosity. We can also demonstrate kindness by being friendly with others despite our differences, and by being considerate in the sense that we can understand others' feelings and situations without passing judgment. These are the only three qualities that we should have completed. Why am I saying this?

  • Some people are friendly but selfish.

  • Some are generous but not considerate.

  • Some are considerate but not friendly at all.

All three of the previously mentioned items should be in our possession. To stop evil deeds from occurring, be kind in a sincere manner without possessing any negative thoughts.

Other ways to show kindness

1. Awareness

Being aware of the circumstances of others can be considered a quality of kindness. We shouldn't have to be constantly overwhelmed by our thoughts, feelings, and life itself. We should also be aware of what others think and feel if they require our assistance or consideration. Being aware means that we are always open to such opportunities to help others, regardless of the circumstances.

For example, my best friend and I planned a friendly date, but when the time came, my best friend did not appear at the location where we were supposed to meet. Of course, as her best friend, I should be aware of what she is up to first. I should be aware of how she feels and the reasons for her absence from our friendly date. I should be considerate enough to understand her reasons and always keep her feelings in mind.

2. Non-judgmental

Kindness entails being nonjudgmental. If we truly want to be kind to others, we should not make hasty judgments based on what we see. Appearances can be deceptive. Being kind means understanding that everyone is unique and that everyone's actions have meaning. Don't be too quick to pass judgment; instead, be critical and learn the entire story first.

For instance, a child stole a loaf of bread from the store. We witnessed such an act with our own eyes and decided to confront the child by chasing him until he surrendered. A child stole a piece of bread because he was so hungry after not eating anything all day as an unfortunate being who didn't have enough money and his poor family couldn't sustain his need for food. As non-judgmental people, we should not pass judgment on the child based on his actions, even if they were wrong in the first place. Because of the hunger, the hungry child cannot think of a better solution and decides to steal instead. If we want to show kindness, rather than judging the child, we should feed him and assist him as best we can.

3. Action

We can demonstrate our goodness through action. We can be called kind by being helpful in even the most insignificant ways, as long as we intend to make others smile. Be generous and friendly in a variety of situations. We should always be kind to one another and never think of doing bad things to one another.

For example, one of our classmates has decided to sit quietly in her chair during recess because she does not have enough money to buy food from the canteen. With that, we can be kind to her by sharing our food with her or giving her money to buy whatever she wants.

On the other hand, we have this classmate who is constantly left out of lectures. As a gesture of kindness, we can assist him by teaching and guiding him through the fundamental lessons after class or during his free time.

4. Help Unconditionally

Be kind without expecting anything in return. We can help others without considering the benefits we will receive in return. We shouldn't always think of it as a two-way street. We can give as much as we want, but never expect them to help us back because it is not kind to expect them to return what we have given. Help as much as you can without expecting anything in return; if they do, say "thank you," but if they don't, that's fine too.

For example, we assisted a friend in courting his crush, and in exchange, we are asking him to buy food for us. That ought not to be the case. If we want to help others, we should do so without expecting anything in return.

In conclusion
Being kind entails doing good deeds for other people and even for ourselves. Even in small ways, we can show kindness. Giving inexpensive gifts is the same as simply showing kindness. And what's the point of giving expensive gifts if they didn't come from our hearts and we still harbor grudges against them? Be kind regardless of the circumstances. There's no need to feel obligated to help because you don't have a lot of money.

Being kind does not depend on how much money we have; as long as we are rich in love and can be friendly, generous, and considerate to everyone unconditionally, that is the true kindness we should be proud of.
