Introduction/Theme
Have you been in a situation where there seem to be so much to be done and yet you can’t seem to accomplish all your heart desires and you are at a loss on what to do or how to go about achieving all of your dreams with the limited time at your disposal?
Or you felt that you have so much time at your disposal but can’t seem to bring yourself to do anything reasonable with your time?
Or you can’t seem to account for how you spend your time? Well, whichever way it is, we all need one thing that could get us to do and achieve anything we want and that’s the power of self discipline.
So quit the excuses and join me on this ride.
Key points from the chapters
No Excuses! The power of self discipline is a voluminous book with over three hundred and fifty chapters. Where could I probably start from? From here I guess. I would simply put out few points that made great impressions on my spirit and there are a thousand and one in the book.
The essence of this review is just to whet your appetite and spur you into making a decision to get to read the book yourself. In that way, you would have been able to glean all you can personally.
- There is so much potential in everyone of us. There is so much we can do but we can’t achieve them by laying around and mere wishes. From research and survey over the years, one of the difference between the rich and the average is simply the ability to imbibe self discipline.
Self discipline is the ability to what you are supposed to do, when you are supposed to do it whether you feel like it or not.
- Another way to define self discipline would be the ability to master; master our appetites, inclinations, emotions and etc. When we are not able to master all these, we not only become unreliable but dissolute and weak.
Emotions and appetites not mastered brings us under their subjection and control and we end up becoming helpless slaves to ourselves instead of the other way round.
- Do you want to create a wonderful future for yourself, You must have the ability to think, plan and work. Not just work but work hard and smart.
We must learn to think future and not just doing things that would suit us now. When we think future, it helps us to plan and correct our actions in the now which would also affect our future.
- Did you know that the difference between the rich and poor is that wealthy people over a long time do the things that the poor and average shy away from?
If you want to be successful in life, you must find out what is that difficult thing that the wealth do that others don’t do and decide to discipline yourself to start doing them and stick to them.
What would make someone pick up a book of over 350 pages to read if not discipline? I have a lot to say but why don’t you find out for yourself. No excuses, you are about to be hit by The Brian Tracy’s gusher. Dig in now.
My rating of the book
Frankly speaking, I’d say this book is a roller coaster for me. So much wisdom and practicality in one piece. If supermen still exist, Brian is one of them.
I give this book a rating of 10/10. It has more than you could ask to offer.
Conclusion
If you have been struggling with disciplining yourself to do what’s required, you aren’t far from getting help if only you could decide to give this book a chance.
You would love reading through it and doing all the practical suggestions it brings to your table.
