My Neighborhood Watch #90 - Reporting Events Around us
Hi Friends,
Customers waiting to filled their cooking gas
We are in the Ramadan period where Muslims need to abstain from eating, adultery, drinking, and smoking. It's a special month for Muslims all over the world. We started fasting on the 1st of March 2025. I went to a gas filling station very close to my place of residence to fill my cylinder in preparation for Ramadan so that we could use it during Sahur. It's very fast, and it would also reduce the stress we may face. When I first arrived at the station, I saw a large crowd of people queuing with their cylinders. I didn't have any option but to wait and do the same.
One man told me to go and pay at the payment unit. At that moment of paying to the officer, one attendant stated that cooking gas had finished, and they needed to go and refill the tank.
The receipt I collected from the desk officer
They stopped people for make payment, the trailer with the tank went to the depot station. We waited for the tanker to arrive for about 2 hours. When it arrived, the workers immediately filled the gas into a large company cylinder. I went straight to make a payment and collected a receipt from the counter. People are arguing to the extent that it led to a fight between the buyers and sellers. They are threatening each and every one of us unfairly because we have no choice, and their cooking gas is cheaper. For instance, 1kg is 1,020 naira compared to other filling stations.
I observed Zuhr, Asr, and Maghrib prayers before leaving their station. The reason why people fight is that some are shunting while others use their connections to buy the cooking gas. Later, a police officer from G Division controlled the crowd so that gas attendants could have good air to breathe and also have enough space to attend to everyone.

When it was my turn, I was very excited that all my effort in that process was not in vain because those who did not have enough time to wait went to meet the desk officer to return their money; the officer in charge returned their money, and some of them left. I bought the cooking gas at the rate of 2,200 naira (2.16kg), which is equivalent to 10 steem. I broke my fast when the sun went down with dates and water because I was so thirsty due to the hot sun.
My phone was switched off, and every member of the family had been my calling number, so it was not reachable. I reached home at exactly 7:30 pm. I ate my food, when it was time for Isha prayer, went to the mosque, and charged my phone when National electric power authority (NEPA) brought the light. So here is what I have for you.

Interesting day but stressed. Waiting for two hours until the tanker arrived and then another minutes before it gets to your turn was a hell for me. Well, I guess you didn't have much to do with the gas so you had to wait. All the same,it was a great day!
