Hello friends,

Welcome again to my blog. How are you doing? N how is your weekend going? I will be sharing my view on this topic "smoking kills". A lot of us smokes or knows someone who smokes, do you think it can actually kill or a mere assumption?.


"Smoking kills"

What actually comes to your mind when you hear this phrase? Does it give you a sense of death, Or otherwise? Smoke is a visible vapour we see from a burning substance. Now smoking is the inhalation of this smoke into our body system. Smoking is not just about the cigarette, tobacco, Indian hemps, it's also about eating smoked food; like roasted road side food, sitting down with someone with a smoke and inhaling it.


All these are ways we take in smoke to our body system without knowing. When you look out for the smoker, you also look out for the consumer or inhaler. Smoke causes cancer that can lead to death, heart diseases, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), etc. Even while it is written on the pack that smokers are liable to die young, the smokers ignore the write up and go for the content.


Smoking kills is not just about death. It can kill dreams, aspirations, career, focus, achievements, once you loose your dream through smoking, it has killed you. Before the thought of rising up could come, the person is already addicted. And addiction to smoking kills fast.


"Some reasons why people become addicted to smoking"

Smoking starts gradually and before time would tell, the person is an addict. You know smoking is applicable to man, woman, young, old, anyone can get involved.

Now, familiarity and stress free can make one become an addict. Most persons see smoke as their best friend, family, talking mate, all these are mere assumptions. The moment the person takes this substance, he/she becomes very happy and tends to forget the emotions, the worry, the stress, the troubles, but forgetting that it was only a smoke and will wipe off in few seconds. This reason make people take 10 packs of smoke in a day and each pack contains 10 sticks of smoke. This is addiction.


Another one is Temptation, I know of a saying that goes "what you don't want, you don't see, and what you don't desire, you don't hear". When one keeps coming close to people who smokes, or watch a lot of things about people that smokes, along the line, he/she wants to try it and see what it tastes like, how it feels, starting with one stick the first day. And second day 2 sticks, and gradually increasing to 8 sticks in one day, the person can no longer deal with it, it has become an addicted act.


Lastly, Pleasure and satisfaction. This mindset of forgetting your sorrow and merry when you smoke or even drink, does it really work? Smoke they say gives pleasure and satisfies the individual for the time been. This simply means that one has to keep taking this substance all the time to keep pleasure and be satisfied, this system is addiction already

I am not addicted to smoking, and I have a cousin sister and a brother who smokes. But honestly, I have not notice any changes in them. They are still the loving, vibrant, caring and accommodating family I love. I visit them often and we discuss issues very well. They even give advises that will help matters.

Well, I would say maybe they are not addicted and it has not eaten them up because they look so healthy and fresh at all time.


What should we do to reduce the rate of smoking addiction?

As individuals, we can start from our homes, environment, neighbourhood to help some addicts around us.

They need care, love, compassion, support. Most of them lack these things. If they can get these things from within and then some advises about how harmful the smoke can be, it will help the addict begin to see reasons why smoke should be stopped.

Getting the addict involved in some activities could help. He /she does not need to be idle, he should get busy at all time. Always try to get his/her mind off the scene. It should not be close to his reach too.


Conclusion

Smoking is very dangerous to health, and as such, one should stay off smoking and stay far from smoking areas because inhaling smoke is as good as smoking too. Remember that love, care, support can save a smoker around you.

Really nice post you highlights many good points in your post but dear as mentioned your sister cousin smoke but you didn't notice nay change this will damage their lungs in long run and smoking is just silent killer.

Do aware them about consequences of the smoking 🚭🚭 and how they can quietly stop the smoking 🚭🚭

I have been trying my best to let them know the consequences. But when I talk to a point, I change the topic.

I believe it's a gradual process and they will understand before it is late.

Good reading from you @ninapenda. It's been a while but it's nice seeing you again. You have written quite well on contest topic. Smoking actually kills. There are associated health challenges this has come with over time that include coronary artery diseases, lung cancer, mouth cancer, blood pressure, etc.

It is best we continue to counsel people in this category, and as well ensure we start from our individual families. Words of mouth are more potent ways of driving this message. Thank you for sharing... Good luck

Smoking is a very bad habits and I believe the phrase is meant to reduce the rate at which people do smoke so they can live longer.

Exactly! But advising and counseling will go a long way to help them get off that situation.

People develop such habits of consuming additives due to lack of support from family friends, even they didn't appreciate their efforts. So, for better society and world we have to encourage our kids, friends and other family members about each thing and educate about side effects of smoking once they get addicted to it.
