Taiyou No Tamago Mango
Nicknamed Taiyou No Tamago, or which means sun egg. This reddish-skinned mango is sold at a fantastic price. For one box containing two mangoes, Taiyou No Tamago is priced at 3 thousand US dollars, or around 45 million rupiah per fruit.
Because of its exorbitant price, this mango is quite difficult to find buyers on the market. In 2014, Taiyou No Tamago was only sold two fruits in a year. Actually, horticultural products, including fruits, vegetables and ornamental plants. People do consume them. So it's not just for nutrition, the more expensive it is, the more prestigious it is.
Densuke Watermelon
In Indonesia, one watermelon is priced relatively affordably, but not with Densuke watermelon, from the Hokai plantation in Japan. And sold at a price of 650 thousand Yen, or around 85 million rupiah per fruit. Having smooth skin, and dark in color, Densuke watermelon is considered much sweeter than other types of fruit in general.
The seed content of this watermelon also tends to be less, so it can be enjoyed without having to bother cleaning it. In addition to its fantastic price, Densuke watermelon is one of the exclusive fruits in Japan, because cultivating this watermelon is quite difficult if done in other countries. That is why Densuke watermelon can usually only be produced as much as 100 fruits per season.
Ruby Roman Grapes
At first glance, Ruby Roman looks like most grapes in general. However, what makes it different is the price of one bunch of grapes sold by a wholesaler in the city of Kanazawa, Japan, which is sold for 1 million yen, or around 135 million rupiah per bunch. Ruby Roman is a grape that has been cultivated by Kanazawa grape farmers since 1995.
A Ruby Roman is 3 cm in size, or twice as large as grapes in general. This grape has bright red skin, and has a very high quality of sweet taste. If one bunch of grapes is sold for 1 million yen, then one grape itself is worth 38,462 yen, or around 5.2 million rupiah.
Cornwall Pineapple
In London, England, there is a Cornwall pineapple, which is cultivated in the Lost Garden Of Heligan, priced at 10 thousand Pounds, or around 192 million rupiah per fruit. What makes this pineapple have a high price is because the planting technique is quite unique and quite difficult.
Using a method called Vixbar, farmers plant pineapples under piles of straw, manure, and horse urine which can stimulate reactions so that pineapples can survive in cold climates. To care for one pineapple alone, it takes 1000 Pounds, or around 19 million rupiah. Even some of these pineapples require twice the cost.
Melon Yubari King
This melon is also included in the ranks of the most expensive fruits in the world. Known as Yubari King, one melon from Yubari Japan, is sold for 500 thousand Yen, or around 67 million rupiah per fruit. That is why Yubari King is known as the melon with the highest price in Japan. The physical form of this melon is similar to other types of melons in general. However, Yubari King has a dark red color, the lines on the surface of the skin look thick.
The specialty of Yubari King itself lies in the very soft flesh of the fruit, and has a crunchy and juicy taste in the mouths of its connoisseurs. Depending on the season, Yubari King often changes every year. In 2017, the price of one melon could even reach 2 million Yen. Which then increased again by two and a half million in 2018. Currently, exclusive Yubari melons can reach the highest price at 1 million Yen.
