Reindeer, or caribou
Reindeer, or caribou, are a species of reindeer found in arctic and subarctic regions, including Canada, Alaska, and Scandinavia.
Its distinctive features are thick fur that protects it from extreme temperatures, as well as large, branched horns. Both males and females have these antlers, which is rare in other deer species.
Reindeer are renowned for their mass migrations, moving in large groups to find food and escape predators. They have a varied diet, including moss, arctic plants, and leaves.
Their unique adaptations to cold environments include the ability to lower body temperature while resting. During winter, they can survive extreme temperatures by utilizing their thick layer of fat and fur.
Reindeer also play an important role in the Arctic ecosystem, being an integral part of the food chain for predators such as polar bears and wolves.
