Street Dogs By @shuly'

Hello Everyone,

Greetings from @shuly to all of you. I hope you're all doing well and having a great time.

Street or "stray" dogs are an often misunderstood element of urban landscapes worldwide. Born or abandoned on the streets, these pups must learn how to survive in an environment without owners to provide for their needs and are usually found living alone or forming loose social groups called packs.

Life on the streets for street dogs can be extremely trying. They face numerous hardships and dangers daily, with food often becoming their greatest struggle - they may scavenge through garbage bins, beg from humans for scraps to feed themselves, or hunt small animals to hunt as food sources, yet finding reliable sources may not always be simple, and many street dogs become malnourished from malnutrition and hunger.

Street dogs must endure harsh environmental conditions without the protection of shelter. Exposure can result in heatstroke, hypothermia, accidental injuries, or conflicts with other animals they don't belong to. Street dogs can also be vulnerable to diseases and parasites. Without access to regular veterinary care, they could contract illnesses such as rabies, distemper, mange or fleas, ticks worms which can infest their bodies, causing discomfort and health complications.

Street dogs face numerous social hurdles as well as physical ones. Some members of their communities view them as nuisances or threats; others might view them as dirty, aggressive animals that spread disease, leading them to mistreatment, abuse, or attempts at culling their population altogether. Yet street dogs are not inherently aggressive creatures; their behaviour is determined by their environment and the necessity for survival.

Street dogs are remarkable in their resilience. Despite facing numerous challenges, they find ways to adapt to their environment by devising strategies to find food, shelter, and companionship despite limited resources; forming loose social groups or packs for protection and support; learning to navigate urban terrain safely while avoiding dangers such as traffic or hostile humans;

Many street dogs form relationships with individuals or organizations providing food, water, and medical care. Such individuals or groups may engage in efforts like trap-neuter-release programs that help control population levels by ethically sterilizing animals and thus prevent further breeding. Furthermore, such measures provide education and outreach efforts designed to raise awareness of street dog plight while encouraging responsible pet ownership.

Street dogs must be recognized not simply as problems to be addressed but as sentient beings with individual lives and emotions that deserve compassion and respect, along with efforts made to address root causes for their population, such as pet abandonment, lack of access to veterinary care, and socio-economic challenges faced by communities.

Street dogs live complex lives on the streets, enduring hunger, environmental exposure, diseases, and social challenges. Yet they showed extraordinary resiliency and adaptability in their quest for survival. Compassionate efforts towards meeting their needs and encouraging responsible pet ownership can make a significant, impactful difference in their lives, leading them to enjoy healthier and happier lives despite these hurdles on their journey home from their lives on the street.

A very important topic to talk on. The fact I hate about humans (kids as well as grown ups) is that they feel 0 hesitation in hitting them with the intentions of hurting them. There is a need to realize that street animals only attack if they feel their life in danger.
