The Deadline Day Drama

The transfer window is finally over. And as always the deadline day has been an intense nail biting situation for the involved and a complete thriller for the neutrals. The biggest spotlight of the deadline day was a chain of deals that involved Saul Niguez to Chelsea, Antoine Griezmann to Atletico Madrid and Luk de Jong to Barcelona. It was a domino deal. Meaning if Saul Niguez to Chelsea goes through, Atletico will be able to seal the deal with their former star Antoine Griezmann which will open the doors for Barca to welcome Luk de Jong to the club.
None of the deals were in place at the beginning of the deadline day. Suddenly news came in that Barcelona had agreed a deal with an unnamed striker. Speculation grew. Meanwhile Chelsea were pushing for Saul for more than a week. But there was no progress as Atletico wanted a loan with obligation to buy clause in the contract. But Chelsea only wanted a loan with option to buy. The two clubs couldn't reach to an agreement till only yesterday when Chelsea finally agreed to pay the 5 million euros as loan fee. This would let them seal the deal with an option to buy clause. The deal was confirmed about 5 hours before the deadline. After it Atletico started to negotiate with Barcelona over a possible return of Antoine Griezmann.
The frenchman had a rather poor record in Barcelona mostly for playing out of position. The negotiation went deep towards the deadline and it was finally agreed. Which was a one year loan with an option to buy for 40 million euros. After all the deals were agreed it was up to Chelsea and Saul and Atletico to trigger the chain reaction in motion. But finalizing paperwork and uploading them to the transfer website is quite a hectic job. Chelsea only finalized the whole deal just 2 minutes before the transfer window closed. At 22.58pm. After the paperwork were uploaded both Atletico and Barcelona also finalized their deals and all the 3 transfers went through all the down the wire. In the end it all went through and the players will join their new clubs.
The transfer window is a drama in it's own. But the deadline day is one scale ahead of it. Next is January, the winter transfer window.
