Meet Me

My name is Uko Livin'word Okokon and my #steemit username is @livinword. I'm from South Southern part of Nigeria. I'm in my 3rd decade of existence.

I'm often regarded as "the boy that never grows old" by most people in my town. This is particularly due to my small stature and boyish look. (It's not funny I know).

My Educational Background

I hold a B.Sc. in Political Science and Public Administration, from the University of Uyo, Nigeria. But I am more of a philosopher than I am a political scientist (Lol). Marcus Aurelius is my favorite philosopher. My favorite quote of his is this one that says, >Almost nothing material is needed for a happy life, for he who has understood existence

It made a whole lot of sense when I play with pets and kids. And my own personal philosophy is: LIFE IS SIMPLE. LEAVE IT OR LIVE IT.

My Hobbies
I like to read, write and play. Play? Yeah, life's not that serious. I played a lot when I was a kid, so why can't I now that I am grown? Who made such rules?
I love poetry, due to the creative ways languages and imagery are deployed. I have written a couple too.The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost, Sun Rising by John Donne, Caged Bird by Maya Angelou, are some of my favorites. But my all time favorite is Invictus by Willjam Ernest Henly.

Nelson Mandela, former President of South Africa said it was one of those poems that kept him company throughout his stay in prison, during the apartheid regime.

I love movies too, good music. Normally, I'm introverted. I love my alone time, like alot. Though sometimes, I try to go out and have fun with friends too, but I am a thoroughly indoor person.

I don't favorite food. I grew up eating everything I was served. But now that I'm getting old, I tend to avoid carbonated drinks and processed foods as much as I can.

My Career Pursuit

I'm a relentless seeker of wholesome knowledge. I love to learn new things, if it's worth learning, or useful for self development.
I've been through difficult setbacks since childhood. But somehow, I have fought through the thick and the thin. I have seen God's hand in my journey so far. There were some hard times I came out of that I can't explain. They were nothing short of miracles. This has made me take on a mission of inspiring young people and helping them face life's challenges with faith, through my writings and talks.

Though I presently teach in a secondary school, imparting knowledge and being a go-to person for youngsters seeking academic, moral or spiritual help has been a joy, and I've been greatly rewarded seeing students excelling academically or turning a new leaf from a deviant attitude. However, my passion goes beyond the classroom. I want to reach out to as many people as I meet, even on social media.
Because I want to be happy doing so, I invest in myself and any opportunity that comes with financial returns. Financial freedom is a goal that I want to achieve alongside fulfilling my life's mission.

How I Knew About Steemit

I knew about #steemit from a comment on one of my blogs in #hive. So I decided to give it a try. I have no one guiding me so I must say that the contributors, greeters etc here have done a really great job in providing guidance for newcomers.
I hope to put up interesting contents here as often as I can, and learn from others and support them as well. I'm sure I'll get better soon, when I become conversant with #steemit. Until then, please take me as I have introduced myself.
