Wildlife Captured: Asian Lizard Monitor | 10% Beneficiary to shy-fox
I happened to spot this animal at the very corner of the pond and I rushed to grab my camera while making sure it was still there. I managed to photograph this predator by sneaking behind the door. This lizard is called Asian Monitor (Varanus Salvator) which mostly spends time in the water.
Here we call biawak air, although due to its prevalence it is simply referred to as biawak. This species is semiaquatic and opportunistic that dwells in a variety of natural habitats that resides in the forest and mangrove swamps.
Asian Lizards are considered to be most important to this species are mangrove vegetation, swamps, wetlands, and altitudes below 1000 meters. Not long after that, it finally noticed me and slowly made a move to the water while my camera kept following its way.
