Feather Friend: Domestic Goose | 10% to shy-fox
This goose was foraging around the roadside. I noticed this feather friend from distance which instantly urged me to take some distant shots. Known as domestic goose that has larger and fatter than wild geese as they have been bred for meat and also lay many more eggs. It has a varied coloured plumage with many selected to lose their dark feathers resulting in many white domestic geese.
I also noticed another goose that followed, but I decided to focus on this one. I wish I could get closer for some close up, but when I made a move, it ran away which left me to stand on a certain distance. Beside, I once experienced being hunted by goose when I was a child.
A domestic goose is a goose that humans have domesticated and kept for their meat, eggs, or down feathers. Domestic geese have been derived through selective breeding from the wild greylag goose (Anser anser domesticus) and swan goose (Anser cygnoides domesticus).source
