Contest : My Favourite Hobby | @jenesa | 03-28-2021

It was just the other day that I came across the new contest announcement of @bright-obias of Steemit Nursery about sharing your favourite hobby. I was at work at that time, upon reading, I already wanna rush to go home so I could start my entry for this contest. So, here it is!

Hobbies are great distractions from what worries and troubles us which plague our daily living. So I would say it is very much important for one to have something that we called a hobby or at least an activity that can destress you and make you truly alive.

Personally, I have a lot of hobbies. I play guitar, listen to music, do DIY crafts, travel with family and friends, watch comedy movies, and cook different dishes. But my most favorite is the last mentioned, COOKING.

When I was still a kid, on special occasions, I used to observe my mom do the cooking of which were to be served for the occasion. Until I had grown older that she allowed me to help her and not just watch every time she does the cooking. I could say that I was very much exposed to it then. Later, I had observed that just like mom, I like it too.

In my 3rd year in high school, I studied cooking in my Technical and Livelihood Education subject. The subject actually offers a lot of areas of specialization to choose from, but cooking won my heart. It was then when my passion for cooking had started to grow .

In my college days, to somehow lessen the financial burden of my parents for enrolling me in a 4-year course, I cooked light snacks that I could bring to school and sell it to my classmates and friends. Aside from I was having fun cooking different snacks, I also earned, though not that much, at least it had helped me with my daily allowance for school.

Now, I'm a Cookery teacher. I'm teaching the skills for almost 7 years already. I really hadn't seen it before. I originally didn't have a plan of becoming one in Cookery, but my heart has led me to it. And yes, I am very much happy with how things turned out for me.

Really, cooking has played a significant role for me. It's one where I have found comfort; it's what I usually resort to when I'm stressed, worried, bothered, and confused; it composed and bring me to life again.

Everytime I cook, my worries and troubles are released, which make me feel light again. It's my stress reliever, my most favorite hobby.
