Today my article post
This incident is very important regarding Sagar Siddiqui's poetry. The story goes like this:
There used to be an annual country-wide mushaira at Lyallpur (Faisalabad) Cotton Mill. In 1958, a mushaira was held under the chairmanship of Jigar Murad Abadi. The stanza was like:
"The place of worship is not marked on the lovers"
After various poets, Sagar Siddiqui recited his ghazal.
There is a promise that no one keeps
Otherwise, what happens in these starry nights
Yes, it comes, turn the veil from their face
Encourage but not encouraged
The candle on whose forehead you give life by swinging
That moth burns but does not perish
Now it is closed for a period of time
Now they don't even face each other
Not every ship gets a tribute from Tilatam
Not every ship is guarded by a captain
Not every beggar can find a place of eunuch
Your grief is not granted to everyone
Hey, I don't know about this alienation
Oh this world that you are not separated from the heart
I have seen it twice in Sagar Rahghag Ishq
A caravan is often not accompanied by a guide
After listening to this ghazal, the hearts swelled and the audience applauded. On his turn, Jigar Moradabadi said that there is no need for my ghazal, the ghazal has already been done and he tore his ghazal on the stage.
