"O Lord, grant me a son who is righteous. (In response to this supplication) We gave him the glad tidings of a meek (forbearing) boy. That boy when he reached the age of racing with him. Then (one day) Ibrahim said to him, 'Son, I dream that I am slaughtering you, now tell me what you think?' I am going to do it, God willing, you will find me among the patient ones.' Finally, when they both surrendered and Ibrahim (a.s.) dropped his son on his forehead, we called out, 'O Ibrahim (a.s.) you dreamed.' Verily, such is the reward We give to those who do good. Indeed, it was an open test. 'And We redeemed this child by giving a great sacrifice as a ransom and left his praise and praise to the later generations forever. Peace be upon Ibrahim (A.S.). We reward the righteous like this. He was among our faithful servants. And We gave him the glad tidings of Isaac, one of the righteous prophets, and blessed him and Isaac.

"After these words, it happened that God tested Abraham and said to him, "O Abraham! He said, I am here." Go to the land of Moriah, and there he went up as a burnt offering on one of the mountains that I will tell you about. Lee and the two left together. Then Isaac said to his father Abraham, O father! He replied, "O my son, I am present." He said, "Look, there is fire and wood, but where is the lamb (a young kid of a sheep) for a burnt offering?" Will provide lamb for. So they both went forward and came to the place that God had told them. There Abraham built an altar and chose wood for it and tied his son Isaac and placed him on top of the wood on the altar. And Abraham stretched out his hand. He took a knife to slaughter his son. Then God's angel called him from the sky saying, "O Abraham, O Abraham!" He said, "I am here." Then he said, "Don't lay your hand on the boy and don't do anything to him, because I know now that you fear God, because you have spared me even your son, who is your only one." No. And Abraham looked and saw behind him a ram whose horns stuck in the bush. Then Abraham went and caught the ram and offered it as a burnt offering for his son.

The first tradition is described in the Qur'an and the second is written in the Bible. There is no significant difference in the spirit of the two traditions, however, Muslims believe that Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) intended to sacrifice his son Hazrat Ismail (AS), while Christians do not believe so.
