My roots and my branches (2) 11-12-2019 A warm welcome home 🥰 After a 10+ hour ...

... flight from Frankfurt to Bangkok and 1 hour flight to my dear hometown Chiangmai, my parents and two youngest siblings immediately went to the market to eat lunch with me.
Do you notice our welcome tradition? My parents always buy Jasmine flower garlands on the way to the airport and the visitor receives an aromatic sign of affection. These malai (มาลัย) have many forms and uses -for offerings in temples, wedding ceremonies, honouring people of importance and mother's day...

The only similar custom I can find in western culture is when you receive a medal in sports. I would love to see more symbolic and honoring gestures like that in western countries -what do you think? 😄

You are living THAT life 😍 so nice 🙌

Thanks for the flowers Charline 😄 (see what I did there? Translated a German phase into english like you did. One barely notices).
I hope it doesn't make people envious but inspires them to see THAT in their own lives.

Lovely company there to welcome you back! 😻😻💐🌹🌹

Yess, my siblings are lovely people 🥰

In Hawaii it's a flower chain called "Lei" 😉🤗

Yess, I read that on my little research too. Didn't know that before. It's a cool thing, lei with real flowers must be impressive!

Always great to be home!🥰👍🏡🏠

💯 definitely, it's a privilege to be able to call places or people home

I would say yes!🙏😍 I never received a flower chain, it looks so romantic🌸💮🏵️🌸💮🏵️🌸
