SEC - S12W1: A Bedtime Story: Clever Tortoise The Betrayal!!!

INTRODUCTION...

Story, story Yes what is your story about? that's the way a story teller ask us we as well responded be they give details of the story then. When we where growing up as kids our grandfather always gist us story on daily basis, some this stories are still fresh in my memory.

In line with my bedtime story i will gist us a of how a tortoise was clever enough to trapped an elephant his best friend and traded him for a wife from palace because of the princess quest to greatness, which she demanded for an elephant as ride.

Story Of The Clever Tortoise The Betrayal

Once upon a Time, there was a king whose daughter is due for marriage and the Igwe (King) is eager to give out his daughter hand in marriage, but it seems like the daughter is not ready for marriage due to her demand about the qualities/characteristics of whom to marry her, what he has to present before she finds him worthy to be her (princess) husband.

Many has come to asked for her hand in marriage but she rejected all both those from Rich background and those from poor background, Even The ones from Royal blood she denounce them all. So for this act, the king on a fateful day summoned The princess, her mother The Queen and all his children.

The King asked his daughter the princes Why is it that one to four men come here to ask for your hands in marriage but refused them all? So he demand that the queen and the rest of the children should help ask their sister what she really want from people asking for her hands in marriage.

After all set and done the princess response was that any man who is ready and capable of taking her as his wife, must present her a giant elephant 🐘 and this elephant 🐘 will serve as goodness in the family, which she could climb on top of the elephant back and move round the kingdom for people to believe and honored her as the princess of the kingdom.

Even before this time tortoise is among the men who has come for the princess hands in marriage, and he was given a list containing the requirements for the marriage. Tortoises and elephant are good friends, so on hearing this he went to his friend (elephant) house.

Their conversation begin as follows.

Tortoise
Good day my dear friend i was sent from the palace to inform you that the king has an upcoming event which you will be made the chairman of the occasion/event.

Elephant ask in surprise
please don't go there,who knows that I exist to Even crown me a title/position in the palace?

Tortoise answered him
The King said in this ceremony you stand as the chairman of the occasion and on that fateful day try not to miss it, endeavour to be there. By tradition you're the only person to pray over the kola, break it for people that will come.

Elephant rejoice over the upliftment from the kingdom not knowing he's trapped just to get close to the King so he will be used to marry the princess.

After their discussion tortoise went back to the King to inform him about when they will come to marry the princess final, the King said what his daughter requested for is what will be presented oo, tortoise ask him not to worry rather he should wait till then.

On that fateful day, tortoise went to elephant house but before he went it is already noon, the sun is shining bright and hot.

Elephant
Why are you coming at this late hour?
As chairman of the ceremony am supposed to be there before any other person, what are you doing till this hour?

Tortoise
Answered him and said, don't bother because we will have to be fast in going there now.

Elephant
Replied him said ok let's hurry and start going as he has been readily prepared waiting for his coming since.

On their way going elephant said to tortoise that he should be fast as he is already last instead of first.

Tortoise
Replied him saying, you are aware that my legs are short and i can't move fast as you do? so if you notice that there's Gap you should wait for me to meet up with you.

Elephant
Said i can't wait for but please put effort and be fast.

Tortoise
Suggest that since his legs are short let him climb on his back so they could moves fast.

Elephant
Replied him saying, no problem do whatever you'll do so far we move fast am ok by that.

So as tortoise is trying to climb he thought to himself this is the right time to tie this fool the rope in my hand oooo?

Tortoise
suggest again saying to elephant i can't climb your back oooo due to my short legs, so can i tie this rope in my hand to your neck so i could use it to climb your back easily?

Elephant
Replied him saying anything you're doing do it fast let's go.

Tortoise use the rope in his hand and tie it to elephant neck and climb his back holding the other end of the rope in his hand.

So achieving his plan 95% already he's happy and raise his voice singing a song......

Tortoise
my father,my king i have achieve the target.

Elephant inquired,
you say what? you said you achieve what?

Tortoise said i say you should be going Because it's locked like is an achievement in getting on your back.
Is it not you (elephant) that will be the head of the ceremony?
elephant be going we follow your back. (3x)

He's going and rushing to palace with rope on his neck without minding what it represent/means, on reaching The palace in front of the king tortoise jumped down and present the rope to the King saying this is the elephant I'm presenting in marrying the princess as my wife.

Morals Of The Story.

morals of the story. Our people talk say, if someone said my friend follow me for a walk or follow me for an occasion/ceremony then you should be careful with the person and as well be careful about where you are going. Love everyone but don't trust anyone of of them.

CONCLUSION....

The story is a clear fact of our daily life, many people today have traded there loved ones, their friends, their wives, some traded their husbands to their selfish aim. It point out how they will offer you something worth dying for so you could fall victim of their bad intentions.

Because is also very important to note that, every head of the family should at least once in a while called out all his children to ask about what is their life challenge, so that everyone one of them could point out what is bothering him/her and that will help them (parents) to know about challenges their children are facing in life.
