SEC S17W5: The Diary Game (7th of May, 2024): The paths of life

Introduction

One way to look back at how productive the day was is by documenting each activity as it occurred. The diary game on Steemit makes it special because it remains intact and any edition of the diary sessions can be retrieved in the future.

I'm taking part in this amazing piece of contest where practicality comes into play and I will be sharing how I spent my day in this diary game article.

The Diary Game

Regardless of how late you slept the previous night, we are in an era where it's constant to wake up again quite early. One solid factor is the infant's addition to the house, our twin girls. Babies would always crave attention or request for food through some minor disturbances so they keep you on your toes at some point at midnight or all through the night.

I was up as early as 4 am and that was when wifey went to the other room to pick up Chloe, one-half of our twin girls who had been busy disturbing us all night. I resumed the dad's duty at that early hour holding my baby girl in my arms (she loves that a lot) after she has been fed to the brim. It's disturbing and amazing at the same time.

One of the few activities I start the day with is cleaning the chicken's cage and feeding them. I have a small number of chickens I'm rearing in the backyard, having a sack under the cage where their wastes drop. I clean the sack at the base daily and change it to a new one.

Chicken feed is quite expensive these days and this has kept some business owners out of the poultry business because feeding at a high cost to later finding it hard to get customers willing to pay the true worth for the chickens is extremely disturbing. I prepared the chicken feed which will take them through the next few hours, 5hrs to be precise.

My duty at the background has always been around 30 minutes every morning and I proceeded to take my bath and had my breakfast which was a mixture of rice and beans. Spent some time on the study before stepping out at noon.

I've got a few things to get in town; get my babies' food and cooking gas refill. On my way, I stopped by the Pharmacy where I got two tins (each 400g) of NAN 1 which cost 15,800 NGN (11.15 USD ~ 40 STEEM). It was a sunny afternoon and I had just taken the pictures of the things I bought at the pharmacy when I got home.

My next stop after the pharmacy was the NIPCO gas station in my town to refill the cooking gas. Petrol scarcity has hit Nigeria so hard in the past few weeks and I think it's beginning to be suppressed now because the queue for petrol at the station is now quite unnoticeable.

I moved to the cooking gas section at the station with my 12.5 KG gas cylinder. The cooking gas is now 980 NGN / KG and I optioned for 12,000 NGN (8.5 USD ~ 30 STEEM) worth. That gives an approximate 12.24 KG of cooking gas.

After the gas refill, I moved closer to the petrol pumps to see how much they sell per litre now and I realized it was 660 NGN / litre. I took a selfie under the pump's canopy before leaving the station.

I had missed three calls from my friend's fiancee while leaving the house earlier and I got home to see that she had just come around to visit us. It feels great to see her again after a few months.

My girls were fully awake when I got home and I played with the two one after the other before moving to my workspace to do some work and that took a few hours.

It dawned on me some weeks ago when my wife was admitted to the hospital that I've gotten the worst feeding habit, and then I ended up not taking anything all day only to take soda and biscuits at night. Maybe that was caused by the stress I usually undergo because the hospital duties; moving around for blood tests, getting drugs, fetching results and so on really got me most days. And today, I ended up having just breakfast all through the day.

I was sleeping around 21:00 when I heard my mom asking my wife if I was not going to eat again. My wife came to me to ask and even threatened to bring the food but I declined. That's simply how the day went.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the day ended quite well with a reasonable amount of activities some of which were unexpected expenses but quite important stuff for household use and my babies' growth. I hope you had a great time reading through this. I hereby invite @ninapenda, @mile16 and @dexsyluz to participate in the contest.

Daddy's duty, it's always fun to fill the excitement. Having your lovely girls by ypur side and running errands for them, is one joy of fatherhood. I was shocked at the price of NAN currently, I had to clean my eyes well to be sure I saw well. 15,800 for NAN I bought 6 years back for 1500. This is something outrageous. I just wonder how much diapers are been sold now. Well our God will keep sustaining us to keep living above the economy. Ypur day was filled with lots of activities and those chickens I saw look so big, you spend time in taking care of them.

I wish you all the best Sir and thanks for the invite. Greetings to the beautiful princesses...

The price of things is extremely crazy now, comparing the current price to the what it was 6 years ago revealed a huge difference.

Yeah, I took time to take care of those chickens. They are just one month old with me.

Thanks for taking time to leave a comment on this.

One month old and they look as big as three month old chicken, wow! I just feel the price of goods in this country is based whatever a retailer or wholesaler says it is. There is no fixed price on any goods in this country because when you go to shop A, you could buy an item for #5000 and in shop B, the same item is sold for #3500 or #4000, that is to say everyone is the lord to their business.

Just last week, I discovered a mini mart that sells in retail with a very low price and I checked for the price of NAN it was #6000 and I wonder how some people would sell at outrageous price. I just hope we don't kill ourselves in Nigeria before the coming of the Lord. In all, we will keep living above the economy...

That is the duty of a parent and I can relate with the interrupted sleep at night. I think NAN is way cheaper in Nigeria than here in Cameroon. I usually buy in bulk to reduce costs purchasing in retail stores. I buy a cartoon of 12 for 54,000 cfa equivalent to about 125,000 naira. Courage for the work as a good dad to your girls.

It's been a stressful and amazing one. One of my girls is on my lap as I'm typing this message. Woah! The price difference between NAN in Nigeria and Cameroun is quite evident. Thanks for leaving a signature here.

Amigo!!

It is enough to listen to them or see them laugh so that our energy returns to the body.

No doubt, they are wonderful gifts of nature.

It's good that you are raising chickens, here in my country food is also expensive, but there is always someone who buys healthy and fresh chickens without complaining about the price.

One thing about difficult times is that it teaches us on how to improvise and be involved in things that will be beneficial to the family later.

Thanks for your time on this.
