Every living thing definitely deserves a chance to love and to be loved including animals

Few years ago, we moved into the house my Dad just finished building. My siblings and I was so happy that we have a house of our own. As kids we attended the boarding school leaving only Dad and mom at home.

Dad goes to work every morning leaving Mom in the house and sometimes, Daddy often travels out for work. So something was missing, a companion for mom.

Daddy decided to buy a beautiful Dog for mummy so that mum can nurture and the dog will in turn keep mom company whenever we are not home. Dad named this Dog Billy.

Mom put in all she has caring for Billy and Billy loved mommy as if she was her mum. My siblings and I came home during a holiday and was so excited to meet Billy for the first time. Billy was growing so fast because my mom was literally taken care of her as one of her kids.

Billy loved all the attention. Billy behaved like a human being, Billy didn't behave like every other dog in the neighborhood. Billy didn't eat anything kept on the floor except it was in her plate. Billy understood English language and even went on errands for mom around the house.

Whenever Billy finish defecating, billy would clean her bum by rubbing it on the floor out side the house. One day in the living room mom and my siblings was discussing, and mum said she missed eating bush meat pepper soup and we just laughed over it. That night Billy decided to sleep at the corridor of the house.

The next morning we woke up and noticed that Billy killed two bush meat and dragged them to our door post. Even the we were all surprised, mom was excited because she will make delicious pepper soup with it. Mom hugged Billy and thanked her for the hunt.

It was as though Billy heard our conversation that night and decided to honour the words of mom. It was such a a beautiful scene between Mom and Billy that day. Mom even took Billy out that day for a cool evening walk around the neighborhood. I think Billy felt special.

Billy was a loving pet to us and she even grew and protected the family from dangers. Twice every month the vet doctor comes to take care of Billy, injecting and giving her drug. Well the truth is , Billy never liked the vet doctor because she felt the doctor was been wicked to her by injecting her.

Billy lived with us for 4 years been all sweet and loving until one day, we traveled back to school and Daddy traveled to work. The vet doctor came over to the house to check on Billy, he injected Billy and told Mom to allow her rest for a long while, saying the injection will make her sleep. Mom needed to go for an all-night service in church so she left billy at home.

The next morning, mom came back home and noticed that someone or some people broke into the house. The house was turned up side down. She searched for Billy in the house but didn't find Billy. She only found some droplets of blood on the floor as if someone got injured.

She put a call to my Dad and my siblings. I personally came home almost immediately that day and joined in the search for Billy. We could not explain how Billy disappeared from the house. It was really a sad experience for all us at home. My mom cried like I have never seen because she was the closest to Billy.

That was the last time we ever say Billy. It's been many years now and no trace of Billy. Many suspected it could have been the vet who broke into the house, others said it was robbers. We truly can not explain what happened.
