Hello everyone here Good evening/day to you all depending on where you are now and your timing. I hope we are all doing fine here. I am v-brainer and once again I'm here to engage in a contest. Today, i would like to share my own view and thoughts on the contest with the title
"Is it Good To Be Bilingual" that is been organized by one of the reputable member of the Steem Kids and Parents community @goodybest. Please read carefully as i dive into the topic proper.

What Is your opinion about Bilingual?

Bilingual means the ability of a person to be able to speak two languages very well and fluently. From the word, "Bi" means two and "Lingual" means language. I can consider my self as a bilinguist as i can speak to languages fluently, i am an Igbo by tribe and so i learnt how to speak Igbo language from my parents and siblings and then i learnt Hausa while growing up from my neighbors because i grew up in Kaduna which is a Hausa dominated place.

In my own opinion i would say that bilingual is very good and i will urge you all to try and learn another language aside the one you already know because learning another language is of so much advantage. I buy goods at cheaper rates from the Hausa because i can speak their language fluently, they normally feel happy when they hear an outsider speak their language fluently, it helps to easy the flow of communication.

If you're a parent Would you like your kids to learn more than a language, and if you're a kid would you like to learn another language apart from your mother tongue?

While u was growing up,i grew about people of different tribe from mine "the Hausas". I had no choice than to learn the language as they (the northerners) will always speak Hausa to you no matter who you are, they don't consider whether you can understand or not, they expect that everyone should understand their language and luckily enough for me i learnt how to speak Hausa very well.

I will definitely want my children to be bilinguist and learn more languages if they so wish too. U would love my children to have this good feeling i am having now knowing the fact that i can speak to languages fluently. It will be of great benefit to them and i know tgey will be thankful for that.

Which other language(s) will you like to learn?

Normally, i am the kind of person that likes to relate with people and deep down i have so much desire of learning different languages but learning them all can not be possible. Among all these languages i wish to learn, there is one particular one i so much want to learn whuch is Yoruba language.

The Yoruba language owned by the Yoruba tribe and is mostly use for communication in the Southwest part of Nigeria. I really want to learn Yoruba because, it is one of the major three languages in my country Nigeria and since i can speak Igbo and Hausa, i would be glad if i learn Yoruba too. Aside from that, most of my friends in school are Yoruba and i like it when ever they communicate among them selves.

What are the advantages of speaking more than a language?

IMG_20230106_150313_850.jpg

The advantages of speaking more than a language are just too many and I'll be talking about few notable ones. Like i wrote earlier, the Hausas will sell goods to you at cheaper rate when they observe you can speak their language very fluently and so it is with so many other tribes too. Learning another language will ease the flow of information between people of different tribe. Learning and knowing how to speak another language could bring and create more opportunity like business, employment, travels etc.

Learning another language too increases knowledge of ones self especially in academics; take for example, carrying out a research and getting related journals written in another language. People tends to like you more when you can speak their language and so learning new language can boost friendship.

CONCLUSION

There are about 7000 languages world wide which makes it is almost impossible to learn even 1% of them but learning more than just one is possible and is of great advantage and i want to urge us all to try and learn atleast a language next year. I will also like to imvite my steemian friends @samuelebuka @joymm and @solexybaba to share their own view on this contest.
