Introduction
Hello Daddies, Mummies, Caregivers and fellow lovers of kids, how have you been, I believe you are all in good health?
My name is Uzoma, with Steemit username @uzoma24. Am putting up this post about Growth and Development to help us understand what we need to do to ensure our kids grow and develop properly. These two words; Growth and Development are normally mistake to mean the other, this post will help draw a line between them and some othings.
I will approach this topic in the following subheadings;
- Meaning.
- Difference between growth and development.
- Factors that can contribute to optimize Growth and development in kids.
- Conclusion.
- Meaning.
Growth and development complements each other because they booth take place same time on every child or human.
Growth has to do with increase in size and weight (physical changes). While development refers to physchomotor growth like development of shapes, bycepts, change in voice and other features that the eyes may not see like intelligence.g
Dictionary meanings
Growth:- the process of increasing in size.

Development:- the process of developing or being developed.

- Difference between growth and development.
Growth and development are very similar in nature but are actually two different things. Bellow are some of their differences.

4. | Growth starts once the egg is fertilized in the womb | While the development is mostly felt after the child is born in the family and at school. When he starts developing skills like crawling, walking, talking, reading and writing |
5. | Growth centers on an aspect of a child's life | While development is broader as it comprises of many aspects of a human life |
- Factors that can contribute to a healthy development of a kid.
Heredity:- These are those things that were transferred from a parent to their children. There are certain things that are solely determined by the genes received from parents. Some if them may include;
a. Skin color.
b. Hight.
c. Hair texture.
d. Color of the eye
e. Some helth conditions like obesity, diabetes, heart problems can also be transferred from parents.Environmental factors:- The environment where a child is raised contributes greatly to his overall growth and development. These factors fine-tunes the genes they got from their parents and brings out the best. They may include;
a. Weather.
b. Family.
c. Environment.
d. Pear group etc.Nutritional Factors:- Because all the body needs to grow and develop properly are all nutrients derived from the food we eat, it's important kids feed well so that their body will develop properly. You can refer to this post to know what you need to give your children to enable them grow and develop optimally.
Sex:- The sex of a child is another major determinant in a childs development. This is because it takes different tolls on the both sexes. The girls graduate to puberty quicker than the boys and their physical appearances changes even as their interest and focus changes.
- Conclusion.
Am glad that through this post. I have been able to differentiate between growth and development. We have also highlighted certain factors that can help our kids grow and develop optimally. Some of these factors if lacking may cause one growth defect or the other to a child, therefore, parents and caregivers should please pasy more attention to those factors amongst others.
