Steemit Engagement Challenge (SEC)WK14:#2: Thank You!

in Steem Kids & Parents8 months ago (edited)

Hello Everyone,
This is one of the steemit engagement challenges for this week and the topic to write on is Thank you. This is my entry.

Let's start like this; imagine buying a gift for someone. Then the person receives the gift but never says thank you or put up a smile either. How will you see such person?
Ungrateful, unappreciative and many other words that means not being thankful.
Right?

What is thank you and on what occasion can one say it

Thank you is a shorter form of "I thank you". It is an expression of gratitude in response to something done or given. For me, thank you is one the magic words that's being used on a daily basis. It shows the measure of gratefulness and appreciation toward a person's kind act.
In other languages, like ; French, Spanish ,etc
I was thought to say merci as thank you in French
And gracias in spanish

There are many occasions in which 'thank you' can be used but, I've only been instructed to list out five. So let's rock and roll....

  • When one receives a gift or compliment, such person would be considered as being polite if he or she says thank you.
If I present a gift to someone and I don't get a thank you. I assume the person is not happy with either me or the gift. But if at least he or she puts up a smile on his or her face. Then I'll reconsider. Maybe the person might be so excited that thank you skipped his or her memory.

  • When a person is being welcomed or given recognition at a place:
When a person says thank you after being welcome, it means he or she accepts and probably likes the place. But if he or she doesn't say thank you, then it's the other way round. On this occasion, I personally have the thought that the conversation that only has thank you and you're welcome in it should never end. Confusing and ridiculous. Right...?

Let me explain; You see, whenever you welcome someone. That person should say thank you. And when he does, you say' you're welcome. Still, the response for you're welcome is thank you. So, it should never end.

Note: At the end of this article, I'll say thank you. So, do well to comment you're welcome in the comments section.

  • Whenever you pay for goods and services;
Yes! You pay for the goods and services. Yes! It's your money 🤣🥱
But you don't just snatch things off peoples hands and leave. At least, you should say thank you. Try to be polite in whatever you do. And the sellers or vendor or whatever too should be appreciative of their customers by saying thank you.

  • When someone calls you to check on you; These are simple tips to make a person feel important and appreciated for his kind gesture.
When you're both done with exchanging of pleasantries and all of the other things you say🥱🥱🤭. The one that received the call should always say thank you. " Oh thanks for checking on me. I really appreciate."

  • Whenever you're being abused with words'
Yes! It's not a joke. We all know what sarcasm is. Okay, it means responding to things directly opposite of how you should have responded. Or to say something directly opposite of what you mean.
Whenever you see trouble coming after you, try as much as possible to avoid it. Don't talk back ,stay calm.
How important is Thank You and who should say it?

When ever you say thank you in appreciation for anything, those goodies will keep coming. I totally would say that everyone should learn and know when to use Thank You. It really helps.

★ Say it with confidence
★ Put a smile on your face when you say it
★ You can even extend your hand for a handshake or a warm hug

Tell a real life story where saying Thank You has helped you or Someone else in a positive way

This story have always been very funny to tell. It was on a friday evening after school. By then, I think I was in JSS3 ( Junior Secondary school 3). So that evening I was very hungry since I didn't take my snacks to school that day. I forgot them at home. And I wasn't used to staying hungry for a long time. Brethren....I was hungry.

The only money I knew I had on me was my transportation fare back home. And by then, it was just 50naira. I dipped my hand into my pocket and felt this polythene texture of two 50 naira notes inside of it. And I needed just one fifty naira note for the transportation fare. So I decided to take out one and buy my favorite Rite sausage roll. Ate it to relieve the huger.
Then just before boarding a tricycle.I checked again to be sure the other note was still in my pocket. And it was intact.

So I hopped in and voom, we went. On getting to my destination, I highlighted and went out of the tricycle. Then put my hands and brought out the supposed 50 naira. But to my greatest surprise, it was 10 naira. I said ahhhhhhh.
And the driver said in my language" uku kamake akōk, afo adi dōk keke.Dah aya kpe." It's interpreted as "you didn't have money and you still boarded a tricycle. Dah you must pay. It was at that point I knew I had f*cked up. I started begging and saying thank you at the same time. Few minutes later, the man bursted into laughter, shock his head and drove away.

Don't try it ooo. Although it's a true life story. One of which I'll never forget.

Your advice on saying thank you

My advice would be that; you should always add thank you when requesting a favour from someone. This would make the person eager to grant your wish. Because he or she has already received an appreciation for an undelivered task.
Also don't always forget to say Thank You for every act of kindness you receive.

Amazing write up! Indeed Thank you is very valuable whether you are requesting for a favour or meeting a demand.

You got very lucky with that tricycle driver. It might have really turned out a different way but then again the magical powers of thank you comes to play once again.
