Welcome to todays' diction with @udyliciouz, last week, we talked about Intonation. The meaning of intonation, types of intonation with examples. We practice some reading as well as some standard expression.
Today we will be move to something else.
We will be considering the sound variant of the letter 'A'.
Lesson 2
Sound variants of the letter 'A'
English language has two sets of letters. There are letters of the alphabet used for spelling and letters of the sound system used for pronunciation. Every letters has its likely sound or sounds. All vowel letters have more than one sound. Let us take a look at the sounds of the letter 'A'.
Lettter 'A' has over nine different sounds.
Practice Reading
The following sentences contains the different sounds of the letter A. Read it with the right intonation, pronunciation and fluency.
- My father is a medical doctor.
- Can you speak Latin?.
- Please pass the ball to her
- We are travelling to the village tomorrow.
- Let's take a walk.
- Many students were absent yesterday.
- What is your area of concern?.
- My brother bakes bread
- There is no water in the house.
- Dont play with the rake.
Standard expression
Wrong: Escort me to my mother's shop.
Right: Accompany me to my mother's shop
