Problems of marriage

There are many problems of marriage. Some of the problems that may arise in marriage are as follows:

1. Parental Influence: When a man and a woman come together as husband and wife, it is assumed that they can take decision independently without involving a third party. However, families of these spouses at times interfere in the affairs of the young couple. When this happens, the new family is put into confusion and struggles to decide which opinion is right, thiers or their parents'.
   This can break the family if such situation is not handled carefully.

2. Childlessness or Barrenness: Baranness or childlessness is a situation where a marriage does not produce any child. When this problem arises, the spouse begin to suspect each order as the cause of the childlessness. The wife at times is exposed to mockery and she might be given different kinds of names. This is based on the assumption of some people that barrenness is always the fault of the female or wife, which is not, in all cases.

3. Sexual Deprivation: One of the reasons for marriage is the need to satisfy sexual desire. Therefore, it is a serious problem if the husband or the wife denies each partner sexual intercourse. Sex in marriage promote emotional attachment of the spouses. Other marriage problems come up as a result of one or both partners feeling they are not getting adequate sex.

4. Adultery/unfaithfulness: Adultery is when a married woman or married man goes outside the marriage for sexual intercourse with someone who is not their husband or wife. This is an indication that one of the spouses or both of them are no more faithful to each other.

5. Conflict in Values: The values attached to things by partners could be different. For instance, either of them may not attach much importance to money, Land, houses, friendship, fame, religion etc. While the other partner sees these things as priority.

Solutions to Problems of Marriage

Marriage is meant to be enjoyed filled with love, care and protection and not endured.
It is a union that should last until the death of one of the spouses. Therefore whenever there is any problem in the marriage both partners should endeavour to resolve it. These are some solutions to marriage problems.

1. Tolerance: Couples should learn how to accommodate each other's different opinions. We all know that there are individual differences and each person has his or her own personality traits. Even identical twins do not reason alike, behave in the same manner or speak the same way. There is a need for husband and wife to understand themselves.

2. Discouragement of parental interference: Husband and wife must learn how to be independent in decision making. Their Union as husband and wife makes them a couple. They should not rely or depends solely on their parent's advice or suggestion. They can even call to order any of their in-laws who interferes unnecessarily in their family affairs.

3. Medical treatment and advice on health issues: Husband and wife who have the challenge of childlessness or any health matter should seek medical help. They should not blame each other for the problem. They should see themselves as one. Any problem affecting one of them affect the other person. Even if one of them has contacted HIV/AIDS the best place to go is the hospital for counselling and testing. When the husband and wife are united no problem will overcome them.

4. Effective and regular communication: Regular exchange of ideas and information is very important in marriage. The husband and wife should communicate regularly to avoid loneliness and misunderstanding. If they fail to talk to each other regularly, a third party may use the opportunity to come in and cause problems. They should not hide information from each other since they one body, one flesh. They should be each other's confidants.

   Couples will have fewer when they communicate with each other. It is advisable to all communicate with marriage partner.

5. Honesty and transparency: Husband and wife should be fair, truthful and morally upright with each other. They should be secrecy in marriage and none of them is expected to give away whatever both agree upon. They should let their 'yes' be 'yes' and thier 'no' be 'no' they should tell each other the truth at all times.

3. Mention two ways a child can be affected by the problems of marriage.
