Every country has foreigners living and working in it just as their citizens lives and work in other countries.
This brings us to why foreigners live and work in our country.
Reasons why foreigners are in our midst
These are reasons why foreigners live in our society.

Almost all countries on Earth have their embassies in Nigeria.
In this embassies, their nationals are there working as representative of their home country. The head of any embassy is the ambassador or high commissioner. Some foreigners are in our midst

Events like the one mentioned above brings in foreigners for days, or weeks to our country. For studies and training:

We also have many Nigerian citizens studying in the United States of America, Canada, England etc. Some foreigners are in our midst as expatriate workers hired by our country to work in some of our healthy technical and sophisticated machines in the refineries, GSM companies and in our educational sectors.

The coming of foreigners to Nigeria put an end to some evil practices in our culture. Some of the evil culture are human sacrifice, killing of twins babies etc.
Foreigners in our midst came with new scientific ways of diagnosing and curing diseases which have no answers prior to their coming.
Foreigners who stay in Nigeria have played a major roles in the educational sector. Many are in the universities teaching and researching.
Nigerian petroleum sector is being pioneered by foreigners, they have the technology of exploration.
In the construction sector they have played many major roles. Big Bridges and roads in Nigeria are built by foreigners example, Julius Berger and strabag.
Let now consider some of the disadvantages of foreigners living in our midst.
Disadvantages of foreigners being in our midst
- Many of them repatriate home our money, thereby depleting our net national product (NNP)
- Some of them are cheat, they dupe the citizens and the government.
- Some who came to Nigeria has subjected Nigerians to errand boys even when Nigerians are qualified for some good positions.
- Some foreigners come as spies to spy on our oil sector, especially to see how they can be involved in oil bunkering.
Naturalization
Naturalization is a process of where a foreigner apply to be granted citizenship in another country. This can be done by applying to the presidency through the Federal ministry of Internal affairs. When the application is granted, such a person is said to be a citizen by naturalization. As a result he has right to all duties and obligations in the country. Naturalization is also called acquired citizenship.
However, an applicant must fulfill some conditions before becoming a citizen of another country.
