Introduction

Discipline can be said to be the practice of making people obey certain rules and regulations. It can be given to maintain standards of behaviour and punish them when they fail to do so.

Before I proceed, I am inviting @ruthjoe @eliany and @okere-blessing to participate in this engagement challenge.

How do you view discipline

I personally view discipline as a method used by parents and older ones as well as teachers to correct wrong behaviour. I view discipline as an effective tool that helps set things straight in the young mind, even in adults. So discipline is not limited only to children adult too can be disciplined.

Discipline means more than just giving instruction and strong commands. It can be seen as training that corrects, moulds, strengthens, or perfects behaviour and actions. Discipline does not mean inflicting punishment. Discipline is always done with a view to correcting wrong doing and also for improvement for the future.

Disciplining an hyperactive child to sit and keep her hands abreast is a form of discipline.

👉Have you been disciplined before, or have you ever disciplined someone?

I have been disciplined many times. I have received discipline in the form of kneeling down, being flogged for corrections, and many other ways. The way I view those disciplines helps me to become an adult that I am today.

I have also disciplined someone today. Before I had children of my own, I used to discipline the students who were entrusted in my care. I discipline them whenever the need arises and thus really helped them to grow into responsible teenagers.

Now that I have children of my own, I have been disciplining them. Though they are still very young, I discipline them in their own little way. Like asking them to sit without moving, seating, and keeping their arm abreast is another way i used in disciplining my children. I sometimes asked them to hold their lips together so that they may stop talking for a while when I notice the talk too much or make a lot of noise.

A child who talks too much can be asked to hold her lips together for a while without talking. This is a form of instilling self control in a child.

👉Do you consider discipline as love or hatred despite how it is given?

I consider discipline to be love. The holy book says that our maker disciplined whom he loves. It also takes effort to know the right discipline for a particular wrong behaviour. Discipline to me is not hating the person. But we need to discipline in love because , as I mentioned earlier, discipline does not mean inflicting punishment.

👉Do you think discipline is beneficial to kids?

• Discipline is beneficial to kids because it allows them to develop self-discipline and helps them become emotionally and socially mature and responsible adults.

• Discipline helps the kids to manage their feelings and behaviour effectively.

• Discipline is beneficial to kids our dear kids because it helps to trian their young mind and body, enabling them to be more focused on their goals.

• A child who was disciplined can make a good leader.

• A disciplined child grows up to be respected, honoured, and dignified.

👉Your personal advice to those who give discipline and to those who receive it."

My piece of advice to those who give discipline goes this way:

• Do not discipline your child when you are angry because it may not turn out to be disciplined, it may become punishment, and remember discipline does not mean inflicting punishment.

• Do not hesitate to discipline your child as some people do, feeling that they child will feel bad.

• Discipline should be given depending on the age of the child. So you need to decide appropriate discipline for a particular age.

To those who receive discipline

• Please don't feel your parents or any adult who disciplines you hate you. No, they don't hate you. It shows love to discipline a child. Non wonder the holy book says that our maker disciplines the person whom he loves. It takes love to discipline a child for corrections and right mental up building.

• Discipline itself is not sweet, but the result of discipline is beneficial, so please let us all accept discipline and amends our lives for better days.

Discipline helps us to remain focused and achieve our goals.
Discipline is a wonderful tool that is rightly used. It organised our lifestyle and led us to the right path.
