Week 1: A Child, A Million miles Food aid was successfully Carried out
We finally reached agreement with the Proprietor and management of Inspire Schools located at Ifa. Upon arrival by 10.30 am as advised, we displayed our food aids, met with the Proprietor and the kids were organised in groups and they lined up for collection.
We were told that the population was more than 300. We began with the primary section, those whose parents allowed to partake of the food. We shared the food to the students as they came one after the other. We went with cooked rice, boiled eggs and bananas. Each child that came forward received a plate of rice, one boiled egg and a finger of banana.
Do you know that even those that said they won't eat at the beginning later came forward to take theirs? They were so happy with this kind gesture..one of the kids related that we have really saved him today. That he ate nothing to school and didn't even have idea of what to eat when he gets home.

These ones were with me in this journey, they shared both the joy and the pains. But trust me, the joy was worth all efforts. Seeing the smiles on the faces of the kids put much joys on our hearts and faces that we are willing to continue in this journey.
Challenges
Cooked food presented much challenge to us because people here in Nigeria are sceptical about it due to how bad people are. It therefore becomes a fearful thing to allow the kids to eat from a stranger. This is expected because stories that touches the hearts have been received time without numbers. So even teachers feared for the lives of the kids. So, except where we have strong acceptance of cooked foods as in this first week, we will go for uncooked foods like noodles, raw rice, beverages and so on depending on what we can lay our hands on.
Week 2 project and funding
As at the moment, the funds for next week project have been made available by our sponsors, @smilenigeria and @steemkidss
The school we have in mind to visit is Auntie Bassey Schools. But if there is any change, it will be made known to my team. We have a group where we communicate with each other.
A story of a child that needs special help
My attention was drawn to a child whose parents weren't able to continue paying the school fees due to how bad the economy is. This child stopped school since last school session. She has been att home since then. Food is also a problem. You can imagine this situation! I wish she can be assisted in a special way. Nevertheless, we will keep doing our best till majority of the kids are reached.
