It’s me again, your close pal, Sammy!

Sorry, I’ve not been around to gist you about my daily routine for a while, but this time I’m here with some juicy gossip that will keep you on your toes.

This time, it’s not about Davido’s wedding with Chioma. It’s about my birthday yesterday!

I know it’s quite surprising to you because my birthday has been like every other day over the years, but this time I met someone recently who decided to change the narrative this year.

I know you are curious to know the person. Just calm down first. Let me not fast-forward the whole day for you; let me just start from the beginning but before I go ahead, there is a little favor I want to ask of you. I know how discrete you are when it comes to keeping privacy but for my sake and that of @m-fdo, we will like to invite @vickyson @databae and @eveetim to share also in this joyful memory but just for today alone. After today , feel free to kick anyone out that’s not me!! .. lol

Morning

Well, yesterday started with me going to the office. It was really raining that morning, and because I was drenched, I had to miss our routine pep talk with our boss and come straight to my office. Dear Diary, you know I’ve always hated that pep talk. The management keeps preaching to us what they hardly practice, but since we’re junior colleagues, once we default, a portion of our salaries goes in for it as punishment! I’m really tired of it.

Afternoon

During my break time in the afternoon, while I was taking my 300 naira (0.9 steem) soft drink and surfing social media, admiring the latest couple in town, Davido and Chioma, I got a call from my close friend whom I’ve been admiring for so long but didn’t want to ruin the relationship by asking her out since I just left one not too long ago.

She offered to take me out on my birthday. I was really surprised. It’s not every day you see a typical Nigerian lady take a guy out who is not her boyfriend. Dear Diary, to tell you the truth, I was uneasy with the offer, but I just wanted to be “pampered” for that day alone because I can’t remember when last a girl spent on me. I’ve always been the one doing the spending.

Evening

I was supposed to close by 6 PM in the evening, but once it was 3 PM, I sneaked away from the office to see her! Dear Diary, she was looking really beautiful. We went to the counter to place our order. I took jollof rice and chicken, while she took fried rice and chicken. It was now time to pay up so we could carry our food to the table.

Dear Diary, you won’t believe that her bank app started having network issues. It was really embarrassing because people were behind us waiting for us to pay up so they could place their orders. It was even more embarrassing that for a bill of 12k (39.5 steem) I was only having 6k(19.5 steem). We had to move away from the counter so others could place their orders while we kept trying to pay for our food. Finally, she suggested using a USSD code, and thank God it went through.

I didn’t know that during the period I was trying to call my friend to send me the balance of 6k so I could pay for our food, I received an alert of 30k (99 steem) from my kid sister. I thought it was my bank sending me a “happy birthday” text message, so I didn’t bother to open it. I only found out when I got home.

Dear Diary, I have to cut the whole story short because my fingers are already getting tired of typing. After eating and talking about everything in this world, I decided to take the bull by the horns by asking her to be my girlfriend, and she agreed! So, it’s now official. I now have a girlfriend. Who knows, we might end up getting married!

Dear Diary, that was all about my birthday yesterday!!
