Steemkids Mathematics Lesson:Measures of Central Tendency
Introduction
Greetings to all the kids in the house.Welcome to the last month of the year and welcome to another week with a new lesson.The weekly lesson is indeed a way of keeping our minds active and engaged.Lets continue with the good work.
This week we shall look at the topic Measures of Central Tendency.The topic needs a good knowledge of **Addition and Division of numbers ** which I have taught earlier on.
Measures of Central Tendency
A measure of central tendency Is a value or number that is used to represent a set of data or a group.It is likened to a representative that represents a group.The three(3) measures of central tendency are:
•Mean
•Mode
•Median
For today's class,we shall look at Mean.The other two would be treated in subsequent classes.
Mean
Mean simply means average.It is the average of the whole set of data under discussion.To find the mean or average.It is important to add up the whole data and divide it by the number of items in the set.The mean value of a set could be a whole number,a fraction or even a decimal fraction.All these depends on the value given.

Examples
1.)Find the mean of the set:2,4,5,9,10
I have explained the procedure via the video above
2.)Find the mean of 0,1,5,3
Use the procedure as explained in the video
3.) Below is the age of five pupils:5yrs,6yrs,4yrs,,5yrs and 7yrs. What is their mean age

4.) Find the mean of the set 1/2, 1/3 and 1/4
Use the procedure as explained in the video
Homework
1.) Estimate the mean of the set:12,13,21 and 30
2.) Find the mean of the first five consecutive even numbers starting from 2( the even number 2 is included/inclusive)
3.) Below is a set of numbers:
0,3,5,7,12,13,11.Find the mean value.
4.)Calculate the mean value of 1/5 and 1/10 leaving your answers as a fraction
